Wonderful instrument just didn't ring right? Worpped wood ( not truly flat) wouldn't seat properly uneven sound both top and bottom

I've wanted one of these for a long time. I purchased the largest/deluxe cabasa. It was a bit pricey but very sturdy. I was surprised how large and somewhat heavy it was. It seems too heavy and large for a woman'e sized hands...Better suited for a man with larger hands.

I use it when I sing with a 22 piece band and when I sing latin songs. It works great.

Not tight like years ago, maybe they are this way so it feels already broken in.

Bead chains are too tight to slide against the center metal sleeve. Called LP direct to advise them of the Quality Control problem and see if they would simply send me a replacement metal sleeve and was told that they don't have spare parts. An expensive paper-weight.

I've had two of these... still kicking. This is a sturdy, professional instrument as only LP knows how to make them. My first one took a beating over a ten-year period, playing everything from plenas, to zamba in a semi-pro ensemble. Never failed to produce that crisp, authentic Brazilian beat.
