Before this charger, I bought a 16A (non-adjustable) 25 ft charger and then ran into the issue that it burned out my 15A circuit (oops!). So this time I got smarter and bought the Macarlon charger which can be adjusted down to 4 different settings (but can do 16A if you have the necessary 20A circuit). I keep it at 13A, which has been working great for us. It's faster than the stock car L1 charger and has a very nice readout that shows the current amperage, big LEDs to indicate charging + a readout of how much power it has sent over on the current charge cycle. Really happy with the purchase!

You shouldn't get this if you have a fully electric vehicle. It likely won't charge fast enough to satiate your cravings. For PHEVs though, this is overkill, if you have a 240V circuit. It's standard fare otherwise.

This level 1 EV charger is relatively low cost and has some nice features. You can change the power draw manually by pressing the button before charging (can't be changed once charging starts). This lets you pull less current than the max if you anticipate other devices on your circuit needing power. There's also a built in thermal sensor, and I presume that is connected to a safety cut off. The charging cable seems sufficiently thick and did not get hot to the touch. I had no problems charging my Tesla or my Nissan with this charger. My main concern with this charger is the lack of certification. Nothing from UL, ETL, etc. You're charging a car (worth tens of thousands of dollars), presumably at your home (worth even more). You don't want this charger to short or spark a fire in the middle of the night. For that piece of mind, I'd spend the extra money and get a certified charger from a well known brand. You'd also get useful features this charger lacks such as app based monitoring of status, more complex scheduling, remotely starting/stopping charging, etc.For emergency use the risk is acceptable, but I wouldn't want to use it overnight on a regular basis due to the lack of safety certifications.

“LCD screen that lets you effortlessly monitor your charging sessions”The listing and images of this product make it look like the screen is always on.The screen turns off after a few moments after your vehicle is plugged in and starts charging. So if you’re looking for charging stats or any additional information while it’s charging or after charging the screen is blank.Oddly enough while your vehicle is unplugged and the charger is unused, then the screen stays on.I am still leaving at three stars because the build quality seems pretty good and the flashing LED indicators are nice. They should’ve built something into the software to have it always on option for the screen.

This is not a level 2 charger. It can't carry either the current or the voltage. It is a level 1 charger that works with a standard 1-phase wall socket.

This charger is a level 1 and 2 charger. It looks exactly as pictured and comes with a case where I can store the charger. I like that I can adjust the current, although it is a 16amp charger. Comes with everything needed, no complaints, would highly recommend
