Very sturdy but was missing a few bolts and a few parts to attach it to the backboard. Had to go to home depot to buy the parts/bolts. Looks great and works well tho. Make sure your backboard is compatible with the mount

I was looking for a mount for a basketball backstop on my garage. This one had three mounting configuration including a roof mount option, which I used. I had a gutter on my garage, so I used a short pressure treated 2x8 board to extend the front mounting point over the gutter. It worked perfectly. The rear mounts went directly on the roof. One really nice feature is that the construction allows to roll off the roof from behind the backstop. I hadn't thought about it at all until the ball went behind the backstop. The design allowed the ball to go to either side and then roll off the roof.
09 hummer rear light are perfect fit.

This is how the pole mount is set up for a Lifetime Elite backboard. This isn't tightened down yet, or obviously no rim yet. But just to give an idea of the set up.

Bought to retrofit a new lifetime backboard onto an older lifetime post mount. Fit like a champ. Instructions aren’t awesome, took a bit to figure out which things went where. But in the end it worked well, just what I needed.

Extremely pleased - for all intent it certainly seems to be built to last - one very minor shortcoming. There are two inserts/sleeves provided for 1/4 in bolts that keep the mounts sides separated however, there are two 1/2 bolts that also go through both sides and when these are tightened, it is easy to over-tighten and cause a minor collapsing effect - sleeves for these bolts would certainly prevent that and would also aid in ensuring the two sides remain the correct distance apart.

You get a lot of quality hardware in this mounting kit for a small price. I found the instructions and pictures quite clear so the company has probably listened to reviewers and improved the instructions. I did a wall mount to my garage and mounted a Lifetime 73729 backboard/rim combo with steel frame which attaches very securely to the mounting kit with 1/2 inch diameter bolts.Suggestion 1, the 2 long bolts that pass through the mount kit and through holes in the backboard steel frame are very difficult to insert when you have 40 ponds of backboard and rim teetering in the air, not easy to line up the holes on both sides together. I found a much easier solution, I used four 1/2 inch diameter 1 inch long stainless steel bolts with lockwashers and nuts so that each mount hole could be inserted separately. Once you get one bolt in and secure it, it is much easier to lift the backboard on the other side and line up the other hole with a new bolt rather than trying to insert the long bolt all the way through. Start at the top holes if possible because the angled struts are already attached at the top and the backboard will easily hang from just these 2 top bolts.Suggestion 2: I used a rope and pulley system to haul the backboard up 10 feet, I pulled the end of the rope attached to the backboard from the roof, the rope passes through a pulley secured from the top of the roof and down to the wife on the ground where she could safely take up the slack and secure the other end of the lifting rope from the ground. This worked OK and supported the backboard in the air while mounting, although I had to swing the rope away from the wall a bit to get it past the bottom of the mounting bracket since the brackets extended farther out in the air than my pulley.Suggestion 3: Per instructions, I put the rim on the backboard before lifting the backboard up. The rim adds a lot of weight. I think I might have been able to leave the rim mounting U bolts in the board and finish mounting the rim from a ladder after getting the board in place. I'm not completely sure you can do this, but if I was doing it over I would try hard to do it that way and be able to lift a much lighter backboard into place first.

After reading several of the reviews (good and bad) I ended up ordering this product as it was the most I wanted to spend for a roof mount of my basketball hoop.OK - Here's my 2 cents!1 - This product does NOT include the screws to mount it to the roof. The manual clearly states that the screws are not included. This actually makes sense since the manufacturer doesn't know if you're going to mount it into wood, metal, tile, so this didn't phase me. $3.00 worth of lag screws at the local hardware store was all I needed.2 - The instructions... well they crammed a BUNCH of languages into it! BUT they are actually easy to follow if you sit down and read them in your living room in a nice comfortable chair... in the air-conditioning instead of in the direct heat of the sun in the driveway. :) This product can be mounted three ways - to a pole, to the wall, or to the roof. The first section of the instructions is putting the brackets on the backboard, then you have to look for the section that applies to your mounting style.Construction - Well, it's similar to other Lifetime products in this price range. It's very basic but the metal is a bit thicker than what comes on Lifetime's $100-$200 portable unit. I was actually pleased with the thickness of the metal compared to the existing bracket on the backboard.I would buy this again.
