Okay, this Kogibe brand toy light saber isn't the best for rough play, but I wasn't concerned with that. It was a joke gift for my little one who turned 50. Yes fifty. I put it in a box that something else had come in, and his real gift, a Samurai Sword, that I bought here on Amazon and is wicked sharp.Anyway, the light saber has lights and colors, and sounds, and for a little kid would be a great gift. For a 50-year old it was the perfect diversion. You do have to learn the button modes. Long press to start, then short press, two press, three press. It's like a game in itself. It also says: "Closing the function means the same operation" what ever that means.

I got some sabers for the boys being they are huge Star Wars fans. This one is nice if you are just swinging it around- but kids and adults alike are eventually going to have sword fights or strike at a makeshift target dummy. This did not take well to its first sword fight and broke. I managed to put it back together, but the lights didn't work right after that.If it is played with without striking anything, it is a fun toy. And while it looks nothing like the product images (they are stacking segments that pop into thin cones)- if you are going to an extremely rigid convention, it could pass for non-dangerous and somewhat recognizable weapon props. But it's not made for rough play.

My son was incredibly disappointed with this light saber. It never turned on. I cannot review the quality of the light because I never saw it. In general, the quality of the plastic is lackluster. Do not waste your time and money.

The lighting function on these light sabers lights up really well. I love that the light goes all the way down into the handle, unlike many light sabers. My only complaint is that the little plastic latch that keeps the light saber close even when upside down broke rather quickly, that doesn't effect my kids ability to still use the light saber, they just can't flip it upside down without it opening, which most light sabers do anyways, the latch just wasn't very strong was all. Overall, these are good for the price.

This was a gift for my 13 year old nephew. He was ecstatic to receive such a gift. This is great for any sci-fi fan!

Light (up) Sabers everywhere now for the fan - expensive "officials" and mid-to cheapie knockoffs. No one needs to ever be without. The first one ever to hit the market back in the 70s (a knockoff called the "Force Beam") was literally a flashlight with a long plastic tube attached. It only lit white-ish and that was that. You turned it on and off like the flashlight it was and the "blade" was permanently extended. But it was the first so suuuuper cool, plus a smooth shaft, since it wasn't extendible/collapsible. Looked amazing in the dark. The second was just a glow-in-the-dark plastic short sword called the "Space Sword". Had none of the cool of a movie saber but it did glow, so there was that. Kenner, the first SW toy licensee, came out with a boxed set of official sabers that were again basically flashlights with inflatable blades. Yep, you blew them up. But they did come in different colors. So here we are, decades later and alll sabered up. While this Kogibe model does still have the look and feel of a knockoff (just something in the design and the obviously lower grade of plastics), I do like that this lighting saber has many color options. If I wanted to go Jedi or if I want to present Sith, I don't have to worry about having to order a new light saber just because of the color. Options and choices are built in.Second thing I like a lot, it's rechargeable. I don't need to worry about the battery running out and having a prop that no longer lights up. All I have to do is charge it before going into action. It's a big plus that the battery life for this saber is pretty long compared to most light toys. The sound feature is there - it's not the best, not "reactive" as in some other models, but definitely steady. You can turn on or off the sound by three rapid presses of the same button used to turn on the light saber or to change the color, if you'd rather be a silent striker (after all, in space no can hear you hummmmm).I also really like the holster it came with; this is something most other makers overlook and it's a great addition.. It was so useful not have to worry about having the saber lie around and getting lost. I just sheathed it in the holster clipped on my belt (yes, it comes with a belt clip!).The only complaints I have is the look - a bit basic, and as I mentioned above, clear knockoff brand with lightweight plastic that may prove less durable, and that it is a bit small. But, this saber is intended for children, so I can overlook that.

It’s a good present for little kids and can be carried on your side. Good price for a sword that everyone likes!! Colors are bright and functions with one button. The sounds are loud but not hurting kids ears. Easy to use!!
