Does what it's suppose to do. Could use improvements on the quality/thickness of the plastic casing and buttons. Feels like an $18-$20 product - cheap china stuff. The actual drive connectors do seem to be the standard plastic you find on motherboards. Functions exactly as stated and works well for what it is intended. Would recommend some kind of protected case if your throwing it in your tech bag

Other reviewers in addition to manufacturer provided pictures are already accurate and therefore I won't be adding any additional pictures. That said, I have only so far used this to clone a M2 onto a larger M2 card in addition to using it as an external reader/writer for transferring some data. The cloning from laptop was straight forward as I downloaded some cloning software which then cloned all the content from my smaller laptop M2 to the larger 1TB M2 that was in the enclosure. After cloning was complete, I removed the old M2 and replaced with the new 1TB M2 from the enclosure and immediately it was recognized by the laptop but now having a total of 1TB for storage instead. Since I now had the old M2 from the laptop, I decided to turn it into a backup device and have been using the enclosure to periodically backup photos and other important files onto it. I haven't used it for direct cloning via the device itself as I have not had a need to do that yet but would expect it to also work as well. Would highly recommend this device!

This unit is very reasonably priced and I love that it includes the M.2 NVME slot, something a lot of the other options don't include. As an adapter, I've had a great experience with this product.Unfortunately, the cloning feature doesn't seem to be as robust as it could be. I purchased this device to clone a failing HDD over to a NVME drive so I could pull files off there without repeatedly reading off the HDD. I tried doing the cloning process twice and both times it failed, producing a RAW partition. When I access the HDD itself through Windows, I can see the NTFS partition just fine even if I get some errors reading files. If the HDD has an accessible partition but the cloner can't recreate it, it must be running into errors and just giving up (??). Like, I know this hard drive has errors on it - I opened the thing up to fix a stuck read head after all - but I expected the cloner feature to be more robust (or have a "do the best you can" option) and at least give me the same thing I see when I open the drive in Windows directly. Maybe it does file-level copying instead of block-level, but whatever the process it's not up to par when dealing with less-than-perfect hardware.Maybe the cloning works with a perfectly healthy drive but I think a lot of people will be using a device like this in more of a data recovery situation.

I haven't used the clone feature on this but between making I think somewhere around 5 computers for friends and family this holiday season some older drivers moving to newer updated drives for newer motherboards made this thing pretty invaluable for easy plug and play setup!

It will start up and the computer will find the drive but will not read its contents on either sata or m.2 drives. I tried it on a couple different computers one on 10 and one on 11 and both causes explorer to lock and crash

Pros:Reads hard drivesReads name drivesRubber nubs includedCons:Clone button feature is kind of scaryIt worries me that the power button is right next to the clone button and fairly indistinguishable from each other. If you have a nvme and hard drive plugged in at the same time take some precautions that the switch for the clone direction is accurate or you could wipe the wrong drive. It includes 3 rubber nubs to help you ensure the nvme stick is seated properly and 4 different nvme lengths are supported.Overall this is great for its purpose. The clone feature is a nice bonus except that it seems like it could be triggered unintentionally. So only plan on plugging in both at the same time if you are going to clone and then detach.

I ordered this item because I recently had to upgrade the storage in my stepson's computer. Let me explain the process I had to go through to move all of his data over to his new M.2. First, I had to take his old SSD out because his laptop only has one slot available. Next, I had to install both the new m.2 and the old ssd into my computer. I then downloaded software that allowed me to transfer his data from his old SSD to his new M.2. Afterwards, I had to shut down my computer again and remove his new drive to put into his computer. Now, to backup his storage with this drive, I just connected it to the PC and moved it to the necessary drive selection and backed up (cloned) my drive. The unit works perfectly. I didn't do an extensive test, but if the item does what it says, it is a 10 out of 10 in my book. Thank you for a great product!

The MAIWO M.2 NVME to 2.5 3.5 SATA Enclosure can be used to access an M.2 NVME and/or a SATA drive on a PC. It can also perform and offline clone in either direction of those same drives. When connected via USB (supporting up to 10GB/s USB 3.1 Gen 2) it is a 2 port USB hub and can support either or both drive adapters simultaneously. I tested mine on both Windows 11 and Linux (Tumbleweed with Linux Kernel 6.11). The SSD adapter is a JMicron chip which seems to provide good performance and I did not experience any transfer errors while using it.The offline duplication feature is unusual but worked well when I tried it, duplicating a 512GB NVME drive to a 512GB SATA SSD.The instruction flyer describes both uses tersely but adequately.Do perform a clone, the device should not be attached via USB to a host, but it does need to be plugged into the A/C adapter.0. set the NVME->SATA or SATA->NVMW switch as desired (IMPORTANT)1. install an NVME M.2 drive2. install an SATA drive (SSD or HDD)3. click the Power button, the blue power LED will light and both the NVME and SATA white LEDs should illuminate. All 3 lights will be steady4. press and hold the Clone button for 5 seconds until the progress LEDs start flashing5. release the Clone button6. wait approximately 1 and then click the Clone button once7. the clone function will begin with the 25% 50% 75% 100% lights illuminating in turnI did not do extensive benchmarking, but the performance is snappy with reasonable transfer rates. I got 300MB/s transfers from my SATA devices and faster than that from the NVME, but it is not as fast as a direct attached PCIE device of course.Overall this is a unique product with a nice feature set, making it a useful tool in a home lab or I/T department.
