Hi everybody,I've used this nutsert installer (Kit 34501) from 8-32 to 1/4-20 without a problem for awhile now. One of my more favorite tools, really. First time I tried to set a 6-32 thinsert a couple days ago, however, the mandrel broke smack in the middle (see attached photo). Now I'd like to say it was the pot of Cowboy coffee I drank that morning, or just the power in these forearms gained from steering a plow across several acres behind two mule, but in truth, it wasn't that tough.I tried to order a replacement mandrel from the hardware store where I bought the thread-setter kit. They asked where I had bought such an old thing. Well, I told them I bought it new from them. Guess we've both been around awhile, excepin' the young man behind the counter.So I might try buying a replacement 6-32 mandrel on-line, or staying with 8-32 and larger, or buying their new Thread-setter kit. For the moment, I'm OK with the 8-32.Be well. Help your community: please wear a mask.I'll let you know how the replacement 6-32 mandrel goes.

I bought this mandrel in 6-32 size, along with others in different sizes, to complete my Marson rivet-nut setter kit. The mandrel was purchased in Nov 2018, and I used it for the first time yesterday (Mar 2019) at which time it broke when the 6-32 threaded portion of the mandrel separated under the hand tension of setting its first and only rivet-nut. I suspect a hidden defect in the chromed steel. The seller has refused to replace it as it's now beyond the return period. So much for standing behind their products....
