Why Olympus chose this odd interface is anybody's guess. For my Pen-F, this cable is correct--however--the port (socket) on the camera that the cable is supposed to plug into is set deep into a small space, blocking the cable from seating all the way. I got a message "Please wait one moment" and I'd still be waiting if I hadn't Googled the problem. You can save yourself the cost of a Olympus branded cable if you have a box cutter and 2 minutes' time. There is a collar around the USB plug that has to be removed for the plug to seat all the way. Take your box cutter and gently saw through this collar on all 4 sides and the corners. You'll be able to feel when you have cut through the plastic and have hit the metal part. I'll post of photo of how it looks when the collar part has been removed. If you compare the photo with the photos on Amazon, you'll see what you need to do.

I lost the original cable and needed this to update the firmware on my Olympus OMD EM-1 and it worked perfectly. Also works for data transfer and charging if you need that feature.

I lost the sync cable for my E-M10, and this was supposed to replace that cable. The connector on the replacement cable was the right shape, but would not fit into the socket on my camera. I had to return it. I'm just going to buy a cable from Olympus. It may cost twice as much, but at least I know it will work.

We got this to replace the OEM one that came with our Olympus TG-3. The cable is longer and works without any problems.
