I got this so I could use an external mic for compact cameras like the Sony RX100 or A6300 where the size of a full-size shotgun mic like the Rode VideoMic is just way too big and awkward. It comes with a hot shoe mount adapter so you can attach it to the top of the camera and it is fairly compact. One thing I noticed is that the red legs of the mount, while they look like flexible shock absorbing material, they are actually hard stiff plastic. They do have the zig-zag shape which is supposed to redirect vibration but with the material being so stiff, I don't know if it actually does much. The mic does come with a mini fur "dead-cat' wind screen which is helpful for shooting outdoors.Overall, this is an effective help for getting the mic off camera so the internal mics don't pick up your hands rubbing against the body of the camera or blocking the mic holes, especially on a super compact camera like the pocket-sized RX100.

Not much more to say, but when hooked up it picks up the sound really well and I do have the dead-cat installed it does a good job of muffling noise. For the price, I'm impressed. However, I have not used a rode or any other external mic like this to compare it to.

I am happy with my order of the Mcoplus VM-M03 Metal Shotgun Video Microphone. This is good for me to use with my phone, especially outdoors where the wind can take over the audio recording. This is very simple to use as it's plug-and-play. It was well packaged and stores easily in my camera bag as it also works well with my small camcorder. I find it's a good value and recommend it as a great solution for upgrading audio quality on a budget. I hope my experience is helpful as you kindly click the button below.
Ooh, shiny gadget.

The Mcoplus VM-M03 Metal Shotgun Video Microphone is the next step in my attempt to address sound quality issues in my videos. While a lavalier is good for a vlogging situation, it's not great for getting on location sounds.I'm not a professional videographer or anything so I've included pictures of the frequency response charts from the microphone's instruction manual. In my specific case, the quality of this microphone vs the built-in mic of my phone or mirrorless camera is that it seems to pick up a little less of the unwanted ambient noise, but the biggest difference for me is of course, the wind noise reduction afforded by the fur cover. This microphone is an affordable upgrade to the built-in mics of my equipment and fits my needs well. I can't say that my recommendation should be taken by anyone who actually does videography professionally.

I really like the sound of this little microphone. It came in a little box all neatly wrapped with 2 wind screens and extra adapter accessories. I have a Canon M50 camera and the built-in mic is ok but I really needed a microphone with better sound and a wind screen. The Mcoplus VM-M03 Shotgun Video Microphone has incredible sound!! It's a nice addition to my camera.
