I have always wanted one of these! It’s one of those things that you don’t need every day—until you do, and then you’re stuck making marks on paper or trying to keep track in your head. This is a mechanical tally counter, a simple device with a knob to reset the display to "0000" and a button (usually pressed with the thumb) that advances the count by +1. Why is this so useful? Because it eliminates the need to remember your count mentally—no more getting distracted, forgetting the total, and having to start over. The build quality is very good. It feels solid and well-made, primarily constructed of metal and held together by four screws. Mine has a chrome finish. There is a wire loop designed to fit over the index finger to help prevent dropping it. I found it more comfortable to use in my left hand rather than my right. The reset dial is on the right side, and when using my right hand, it gets in the way. While my left-hand dexterity isn’t as strong, my thumb had no issues activating the tally counter. Each press produces a solid "click" when a count is registered. I tested it by clicking as fast as I could, and it never missed a count. The audible click confirms that a count has been logged. Likewise, the reset dial makes clicking sounds as it rotates the numbers back to zero.Would I have returned this item after tinkering with it? No way. It’s well-built and works flawlessly. I plan to use it regularly, such as for counting meteors during a meteor shower. It’s a great addition to my workshop. My only regret is waiting so long to pick one up!

I use this tally counter to measure my stride. I count the number of steps in a known distance and then divide the distance by the number of steps. It's easier and less error prone than counting in my head.I also use this to see how accurate my smartwatches are when reporting number of steps. I count them with this counter and then compare the smartwatch results. The build quality of this counter appears to be good. When you press the counter button it responds with a satisfying click and the count is advanced. To reset it to zeros, roll the knurled knob forward until the zeros line up in the viewfinder.I have used electronic counters but prefer this old style mechanical counter. It's simple, easy to use and there are no batteries to run down. It's also comfortable to hold.If you are looking for a mechanical tally counter, this is a good choice.

My daughter taught me how to crochet a couple years ago and it has become a favorite pastime. I frequently have to put a project down, however, and I always seem to lose count of which row I am on. I had started using an app on my phone to help me keep track, but all the rigamarole of turning the phone on and starting the app and such just made it more trouble than it was worth. That's why I got this old-fashioned tally counter... all I gotta do is click. It works like a charm. It's well made and the click is nice and satisifying too.... I love it!

This counter fits nicely in my hand and feels like it will hold up. The reset button is nicely knurled and turns easily to wipe out the count. I look forward to using this more.

it's just a basic metal clicker that counts up to four digits. Works fine, does what it's supposed to do, but feels kinda cheap in the hand. I wouldn't trust it to survive too many tumbles, but for a few bucks, it'll probably get the job done for now.

Want you want in a hand counter is a reliable piece of equipment that won't let you down. I've used this particular counter in my coaching to keep track of various activities. Example: using two counters, I can easily keep track of made and missed shots during training. You will find the device is made with quality in mind and is more than up to the task of repeated and extended use.On my scale of 1 to 5 I rate this device a solid and productive 5 stars (Recommended Strong Buy!)

I wanted to see how these counters were like, i brought one. When I first received it, the material felt pretty sturdy, other counters would've been made of plastic or other cheap materials that were prone to damage and fall apart, this doesn't. The counter is also precise and counts the exact amount of times you have clicked, it's probably one of the easiest and simplest things you can use. This specific counter is just that but higher quality and greater value, I recommend it.

My rating is 3.5 stars. I ordered this handheld counter for times when I don't want to lose count in my head. Now I can click once per item (lap, person, etc.) and then look at the 4-digits of the Metal Handheld Tally Counter (4-Digit Count Clicker with Nylon Lanyard) for the final count. This clicker is completely manual. You have to press down on the "clicker" arm (located just above the plastic display window) completely (about a quarter inch), until you hear its audible click for a successful count. Then you have to release it slightly to be able to press the clicker again for the next count. If you have a lot of things to count very quickly, this one might get tiresome. Also, there are physical limits to how quickly you can count items. The maximum number of items I was able to count in 10 seconds is 40-50. That's the limit as far as how quickly I could press and depress the clicker. I wouldn't be able to keep up with such a pace for long! To reset, I turn the reset dial clockwise to manually turn the number wheels to "0000." It would be nicer to have a rapid reset that could automatically spin all of the dials back to zero at once.As for the size of the device:Diameter = 1.75 inchesThickness = 1.5 inches (including reset turn knob); just under 1.25 in (not including knob)It's a little clunky, but it's also what you would expect for a handheld counter at this price point. It won't win any design awards and the audible click might be a tad loud, but it works as described and comes with a little nylon lanyard.
