My touchscreen factory head unit failed in my 2015 Sonic. Simply wouldn't respond to touch any longer. Bought a replacement double din head unit and this kit to install it. Worked perfectly and looks great.

This item was defective I contacted the manufacture they requested that I have Amazon send it in for service under the manufacture 1 year warranty. Amazon did not want to help with this and refunded me.

This allowed me to put an Apple CarPlay radio in my 2012 sonic. The plastic is a good quality. Because of all the wires needed to make this work you do need to know what you’re doing or find someone who does two install this.

My kit was purchased from the Warehouse deals, it was still the 99-3012G, but it was just missing the head unit acrews and body clips. both of which i had anyway. ( radio had it own screw set, and i reused the body clips from the old assembly). Headunit used is the Atoto A6 Pro (A62721PRB). FIRST YOU MUST KNOW the AWSC1 (small black box) pictured was supposed to retain steering wheel controls, it does not work with this radio. do not spend the extra 60$. i do not have steering wheel controls at this timethe cable install is a monstrosity as seen in the pictures, i recommend cutting into the little cubby to make an opening and stuff the wiring and box assemblies right behind the aircon controls. it'll keep everything easier to reinstall. And finally it wont be the same as the factory colors.

Kit looks very similar to factory color. I can't tell that it is replaced after installation. Kit is pretty easy to install, just need to splice some wires together using the included instructions. I also installed the ASWC-1 kit to retain steering wheel controls on my 2015 Chevy Sonic. After first installation, door chimes and OnStar were not working. Contacted tech support and they said since the stereo was working to the front left speaker, there must be an issue with the Axxess module. I got a replacement kit and put the module from the replacement kit in the car. after replacing the module, the door chimes and OnStar worked.

Amazon had a price drop on this item at the beginning of July so I had to jump on it. Everything is very straight forward and easy to do. There is a lot of wires, but don't let it deter you.You do not retain steering wheel controls with this though. Although it does come with the harness to plug into the the additional unit so it is quick. You must purchase the Metra ASWC-1 to keep them. There isnt a ton of room behind the radio, but it will all fit, just be sure to keep it neat.

This is a very high quality kit. The plastic of the dash piece feels durable. Be aware that it's slightly more gray than black, it's not exactly the same color as the OEM plastic. I actually think I might like the color of this more though. The wiring harness was honestly a bit messy... some of the wires were organized in such a way that they could not be neatly bound together, but this is fairly minor. The instructions were fairly straightforward, and I didn't run into too many issues there.BE SURE YOU PURCHASE AN ANTENNA ADAPTER! This kit does NOT come with the antenna adapter. You will need part number 40-EU55 (according to Metra - which is for a boosted (amplified) antenna adapter. You might be able to buy a cheaper, non-boosted adapter, since I could not find any wire to tap into for the amplifier). Also, THIS MODULE DOES NOT MAINTAIN STEERING WHEEL AUDIO CONTROLS! You will need to purchase ASWC-1 from Axxess Interfaces, which integrates with the Axxess interface in this kit (which provides your OnStar, etc). This might be minor for most of you, but was kind of a disappointment and surprise for me... your turn signal/hazard flasher sound will be replaced with a mechanical clicker (it won't be a digital sound). As far as the a Axxess module that comes with this kit... it works okay. The door/warning chimes seem to be inconsistent, my car no longer chimes when the key is in the ignition and the door is open. The chimes come on and cut off at odd times, and the chime sound is slightly different/lower quality sounding than the OEM one.The other odd thing.. to adjust door chimes, there's a little screw you can turn on the Axxess module... but to adjust OnStar volume, you have to touch a little black/yellow wire to ground, adjust the volume, and touch it to ground again to set the volume. Kinda ridiculous.Overall, I'm rating this three stars... because the Amazon description was inaccurate, the wiring harness was not wired very neatly, the door/warning chimes sound lower quality/are inconsistent, and it didn't mention anywhere that your turn signal sound would be replaced with a mechanical clicker. I personally just don't think it's a great value for your money... $145 is a lot of money for some plastic, poorly created wiring harness, for the lame Axxess module that requires a separate module for steering wheel controls. Why they didn't build the steering wheel control module into this main Axxess module is beyond me ... I was BARELY able to fit my aftermarket AVIC-6000NEX into the Sonic's cubby - having the extra module separate JUST for steering wheel controls didn't help. However, it gets the job done, my radio is hooked up and works well, balance/fade between front/back/left/right all works, my door chimes are there (if inconsistent), and my steering wheel controls work. This is really the only kit you can get if you want an aftermarket radio in your Sonic, but you might be able to get away with the cheaper one (there's a cheaper one without the Axxess module). This doesn't pertain to this product, but the ASWC-1 didn't maintain my telephone controls.. those still activate the OnStar telephone system (wtf?), going to call Axxess on Monday and see if that's possible to fix. I want those to activate the feature on my radio. We will see.
