Arrived as promised and fit well. Easy to follow instructions. The only reason for 4 stars not 5 is I only rate something a 5 if it is better than advertised and expected.

This item had been specifically recommended to fit a 1995 Ford Ranger. After fiddling with it for some time and trying to determine how it would go in without falling out, I gave it one more try.The item seems to fit nicely, in the dash, bit one large bump caused it to fall out. I inspected it to see how it was supposed to “snap” in as described. There are some plastic tabs on top and bottom that apparently are supposed to secure it. Multiple attempts to do this failed, even with the whole dash assembly pulled out, and finally one of the tabs just snapped off.I ended up ordering the American International FMK550 from Crutchfield. They encourage customer service contacts for troubleshooting, so I even paid for shipping. The unit has a replacement support that hooks on to the stock bottom rail in dashboard cavity. It truly snapped in with no problem. I didn’t need to utilize the customer support. This item is available from Amazon, with free shipping for Prime, but I opted to pay for potential help, as the Metra item was so frustrating. I had previously snapped off the tabs as instructed and then a piece broke, but I opted not to return it and it is too late now anyway.

Perfect fit and click in place without problem. You only have to cut the 4 brackets. Very sturdy but if you need to remove the radio, you need to access to the bottom of it.Impossible to remove it with radio tool. Its lock in place.

My husband recently came to me with the notion that nearly $1000 dollars would be a perfectly appropriate amount to spend on a new stereo for his 15 year old pickup truck. Nearly maxing out my self-control, I took a deep breath and went on Amazon and, within a few clicks, was able to show him a stereo and speakers with the features that he wanted for under $100, and this install kit for under $20.In addition, my husband was still struggling a little because he'd never installed a stereo before, so we paid this neighborhood guy who did these on the side $40 to help him finish. Still WAY under $1000, so I'm happy. :)

After wasting $20 on another kit that didn't work, I found this. Super simple to install and is a very solid unit, very happy with it! Used it to install a pioneer single din into a '04 ford ranger. Would reccomend for anyone doing the same!

Kit was different than what I was expecting- substantially different than anything I had personally worked with before. I have a 2002 F150 XLT and for the installation I used the main piece with the left/right wings with the sheet metal screws through existing holes through my head unit. I wasn't able to use the strap coming from the back and straight down because the pre-outs for the deck were in the way but the radio is solidly mounted now.Installation was a bit more difficult than I had anticipated; it wasn't immediately clear how with only two hands I was going to put the 3 pieces I needed together but that might not be a problem for you. Also of the two posts that come out of the top of the main hoop one had to be ground down as it interfered with the dash mounting but this was not very significant at all. Overall the wife is pleased with how it turned out, that earns it 5 stars in my book.

Overall a good mount but just didn't fit as expected. I had to force part of the mount in because it was a bit too wide. Nevertheless, it works great and does the job. 3 stars due to the not so great fit on my 01 Ford Ranger.

A lot of reviewers said that this didn't fit their Ranger, so I was worried I would have the same experience. I have a 2005 Ford Ranger that came with the factory double DIN stereo. The instructions aren't the best but it eventually worked for me. I had to cut off the top and side tabs and the pocket needed to be on the bottom. I bought a cheap bluetooth-only stereo that threw off the balance (so this kit would fall down/out) if the pocket was on the top. When the pocket is on the bottom it allows you to push the kit into place at the top corners where there are two plastic hooks/latches (for lack of a better word) that will connect to the sides of your stereo/dash bevel that is recessed. It causes the bottom of the kit to stick out a bit further than you'd think, but after putting the stereo in and driving for 3+ hours, I haven't had any issues with it falling out. I couldn't get the kit to stay in place if I pushed it in evenly. I can see how some people thought it would just sit in the gap and fall out. That's what I thought until I noticed the side latches. Other things: this is incredibly flimsy and the plastic where the stereo slides in seems super cheap. One of the sides was already nearly cracked when I got it. I don't think the instructions tell you which way to seat the kit but I read on a forum somewhere that the pocket needed to be on the bottom to work.
