Good product, like any other portable tank it swells with hotter temperatures. Holds 13+ gallons

Well, actually, *I* am driving the dinghy - but this has the fuel which powers my outboard motor. This stows flat on deck very compactly, and carries off to the fuel fill easily with the handle which, if the container isn't full, will contain the remaining fuel.A caution, however; no matter how hard we try, and at what age we try, we cannot prevent leaks from the fuel gauge cover if the can is upright.Otherwise we love it/them (we have several).

Fits perfectly in the Classic XL. Moved it to the center with a pair of straps and you can see the gauge and get at the filler cap easily. Batteries tuck neatly to the side.Update 2025: still in great shape and working as expected. I replaced the gas cap with Moeller's manually vented cap. Solved the tank blow up issue that the EPA approved cap could not. Just order the cap when you order the tank. You'll thank me later.

I liked the tank so much I bought three and have them attached into the bed of my truck with a transfer pump to refuel my truck. The low profile is perfect to fit under my motorcycle deck in the back of the truck. The EPA caps that come with the tank don't vent and build pressure so you have to replace them with the non-EPA caps then all is fine. I like how the UV plastic is super thick and looks indestructible.

When the tank first came, I screwed in the fuel connector and tightened the rotating fuel outlet fitting. It leaked like crazy and I lost about half a tank of gas in 3 days. Then I read the directions! It states to use Teflon tape sealant on the threads!. I reassembled everything using tape (on both the fitting threads and the outlet fitting threads) and it hasn't leaked a drop since. I bought a second tank and followed the same procedure. It doesn't leak at all either. My guess is reviewers that are suffering from leaking tanks didn't follow directions and didn't use the sealant tape.

Good gas tank so far. I did have to replace the fuel gauge assembly, which stopped working shortly after I got it. A couple emails to Moeller and a new assembly was in the mail. Customer service at Moeller was great. The vent on the cap works like it should. When I first put it in the boat I open up the vent, press down on it and wait till the pressure equalizes. Its only takes a few seconds. Mine stays in the garage when I'm not using it so pressure build up isn't a huge problem but it still happens. I imagine if you left it out in the sun unvented it would swell up quite a bit but it's made to handle this pressure. Even my current gas can has to be vented in warm/hot weather before I use it to fill my lawn mower just like this gas tank. Not a big deal. You can hate the EPA all you want, this is how tanks are made now.

Fit perfectly in the space for the gas tank on my just purchased used, 2001 Lowe 170 bass boat. It came with a 6 gal. tank and a 50 hp outboard, I run the Mississippi river and fish it extensively, 6 gal. was just not enough fuel, just a little over a hours run time. This doubled my time on the water, so double the pleasure, double the fun lol.I have not had any problems with the tank as others have had. Yes it does swell and expand when it gets hot because it contains all the fumes instead of releasing them as the old tanks did. I have one summer of use on the tank now with no problems at all. My tank does get exposure to the sun, but only partially as it is 90% under the lift open access cover at the back of my boat, so the heat on it is not as severe as a fully exposed tank would be.I am completely satisfied with this tank.

I bought two brand new moeller connectors too. On my new 2013 boat, someone stole the gas and tank only, cut the fuel line, this was a replacement tank. This thing leaked almost as much gas as what was stolen from me. Worse it put gallons of gas in my 2013 clean boat hull, was worried the fumes were going to ignite so I manually cleared the hull. The tanks leaked more.Go it home after going to the car wash to clean the inside of my hull getting the gas out.I was very irritated and inconvenienced and put in danger.Because of the gas leak I missed a great weekend of fishing.I had the wife call Amazon, which has the best customer service in the USA aside from the well known Wal Mart. Anyway, they sent me another gas tank and connectors. The 2nd new gas tank leaked too. I wanted a refund and Amazon granted that.Good job Amazon. Moeller what’s up ????The weird part is that the gas tank that was stolen was the exact Moellor gas tank that amazon sold me. The key point here is I bought the boat and tank through a boat dealer. My second point is I believe they may be mass dumping on Amazon. Amazon told me they would screen the tanks in stock. My final point is this was not worth saving a few bucks. Buy your tanks locally. If you buy them online you might have to worry about getting blown up, getting a ticket for polluting, going to jail, losing a full weekend of catching fish and have to do everything twice.I do not know if Moeller is a USA company but it would not surprise me that they are outside in USA and do not care if they cause these problems and have any concern about ruining our environment.
