Almost no instructions on how to use this test kit. I would not buy this again

I finally had a chance to use these as I suspected that there was mold in an area of our basement based on a slight smell by the sump pump. I read the instructions and followed them. They are fairly easy if you’re just looking for mold in a room; leave the canister open for an hour, then close it up and put it in a dark place that doesn’t get cold. After 48 hours I came back to check and did not see any mold growing in the dish. Thinking it must not have had enough time, I gave it another two days. No growth. So I then took a different Petri dish and tried it again. Same results. I was worried that it was not functioning properly so I bought another similar kit and went through all the motions. It also did not show any mold. So, my belief is it functions properly by not turning up any results! But also still feeling uneasy because it did not turn up any results in my specific case and I still have a smell in the room. I guess a non-result also makes the test worth it. But I still need to figure out what’s causing the smell around the sump pump.

I tried out this kit because I had ceiling leaks in my living/dining rooms that are carpeted. Although the carpets were professionally steam cleaned, I suspected there was mold somewhere. So I tested the dining room area as well as my HVAC vent. The instructions say results are seen after 48 hours. In that time I didn’t see mold but I figured I’d wait another day or two … lo and behold, mold started to form after 2.5 days. There’s a little pamphlet included with an explanation on the different mold/funguses and, instructions on how to treat them. However, the directions are lacking but I figured it out.I just emailed my results to the company and waiting to hear back. They seem to really want to help their customers. I didn’t see a way to contact them through Amazon however, there’s a contact email inside the pamphlet. The company should update their listing to include step-by-step instructions and update their pamphlet going forward. Bottom line, It works.Updated to 5 stars ⭐️. The company representative replied to my email with 24 hours. Basically, the “number of molds is relatively small which is normal, just keep the area dry and ventilated.” - thank you.

Setup was very easy. We had some difficulty interpreting the results since our test dish didn't match any of the included results pictures. Maybe that's a good thing since it probably means we don't have any aggressive mold spores! Testing and seeing results does give some peace of mind, so that alone makes this a good value.

This came looking like it already had mold in one, before I even opened the bag. This hasn't worked with the other 2 samples even though it was tested with real mold from around my house. The instructions aren't very clear on using the qtip, but it does share alot of pictures of types of mold. I wouldn't recommend this product

Returned this item for 2 reasons: 1) no clear instructions were included and 2) the gmail address provided for sending pictures for analysis is bogus. My advice: spend a little more for a decent DIY kit.

I like that the swabs were individually wrapped to ensure sterility. Came with enough petri dishes to take enough samples for a two bedroom house. The instructions were clear and easy to understand. And the amount of time to wait for mold growth is about 5 to 7 days. I am satisfied with this kit and it’s great to have on hand for quick mold testing.
