This was exactly the right part for my 1997 JDM Honda CRV. It bolted right up where my failed drive shaft once was. More importantly, the seller was able to quickly dispatch the package in a well protected container. Overall a very pleasant auto parts purchase through Amazon.

2001 Honda CR-V AWDCar vibrated pretty badly from 35-45 MPH. I thought it was my tires. Then, the driveshaft broke. I ordered this driveshaft while waiting for the tow truck. When I got home, I removed the old broken drive shaft. It literally took 20 minutes to take it off. I drove the CR-V with just FWD for 3 days. Smooth as butter. The new driveshaft arrived on my door step on the 3rd day later around 3PM. I had it installed on my car by 5 PM. The bolt holes lined up perfectly. The only thing a tiny bit off are the ends of the driveshaft (I don't know the name for the parts that pivot at the ends). The knuckles? at the pivots are a touch larger than the original. I could not use my ratcheting 10mm closed end wrench on the 12 point bolts. I had to use a regular closed 12 point wrench. I also could not use my torque wrench to tighten down to 24 ft/lbs (recommended spec, I think). Again, my extension could not fit past the knuckles at the pivots. I just cave manned it tight. I will check the bolts tomorrow to make sure they are still tight.Overall, I am very satisfied with the product. With the new driveshaft on, I can barely detect a very slight hum as compared to driving the car FWD. I will update this review if I encounter any surprise early issues. Otherwise, it means the product is functioning as designed.

I have a 1997 and a 2001 crv that I use for mail delivery, so I drive them 65+ miles a day in mud, dirt and rain. Replaced shaft on the 97 and this one worked great, then when the 01 went out replaced it on that as well with this one. Only gripe I have is the center support bearing is howling like a banshee now on the 97, and of coarse it started about 2 months after the 1 year warranty was up. I tried to get in touch with the seller to find out the specs to try and replace just the bearing, but never did get a response. However, after thinking about all the pissing around to take the bearing out, replacing it and reinstalling to hope that it wouldn't go out again, or the chance it wouldn't work anyway, it would be more beneficial to just replace the whole thing again. When cost compared to a lifetime warranty one that's locally available, I'd be saving about 300 bucks. SO overall its just easier to order a whole new one instead of mickey mousing around trying to save a few bucks, but its a good option instead of shelling out a crap load of money just to have it a few days sooner. Will keep buying these as long as I'm flinging mail everyday, and driving my pos squad o'hondas.

Hi. 1997 Honda CRV. 237,000 miles. Original driveshaft front u-joint broke. Ordered this shaft and was identical to original basically. Maybe even slightly beefier. Perfect fit. The car is running as smooth as when we first got her. Very pleased. Part arrived quickly and on time and was packaged well. (Approximately 1000 miles on new shaft at this review.)p.s. the actual r & r was simple and relatively easy. No problems.

My 1997 Honda CRV AWD had a "shudder" or "vibration during acceleration up to about 35 MPH through 45 MPH. Before committing to replacing the drive-line I removed one end to inspect the u-joints to see if they were locked up or frozen, and yes as I suspected both front and rear u-joints were frozen in one direction. I called a local drive-line shop for a price on a refurbished drive-line $600 with a core...& $800 without a core..GEEZ your r kidding me. So this makes it bargain here for this drive-line. U-joints are replaceable, ( as the original drive-line does not have serviceable u-joints) and all C-clips have small paint marks on them indicating someone did a QC on the parts, which is a great sign of quality, and very nice new black paint. Also the thick cardboard box it came in was very sturdy and packaged VERY well. Great part so far. Just FYI to anyone chasing a vibration issue on your first gen CRV, my vehicle had two problems, both front CV shaft axles had to be replaced also. So my CRV had two major issues creating an acceleration vibration problem, the drive-line with frozen u-joints and both front CV shaft axles with bearing knuckle issues, Replacing all three components remedied ALL of the vibration I was experiencing.

So far, this new drive shaft is working smoothly. Installation was a breeze thanks to the clear instructions in my repair manual (NOT included with the drive shaft; purchased separately.) In fact, removal of the old drive shaft, destroyed when the front u-joint sheared off, was far more difficult than the replacement! Economical and convenient.NB. There is nothing I read in the description of this product that stated that, unlike the original Honda part, the u-joints are replaceable. Anyone who has had a u- joint snap in his or her 1997-2001 Honda CRV knows that the u-joint is staked in and extremely difficult to replace, so the entire drive shaft must be replaced. This OEM replacement shaft has u-joints that are replaceable, allowing more options should a similar problem occur.
