It was my bad knees that pushed this job to the fore front. Hiring someone to do this was ridiculously priced so I took the job on myself and really glad I did. The job went off without a hitch. Quality all the way. These would have cost at least 10 grand to install by someone else. They cost me 600 bucks

I had signed with a national company to install a gutter guard for thousands. I cancelled the order on advice from my grandson, who was selling a competitive brand at the time; he showed me samples of the one I had contracted for that were destroyed by the weather in a single season. Found the exact copy of the brand he recommended on Amazon for a tenth of the price. Strong stainless steel, easy to install; stamped, raised pattern allows wind/water to get under debris and remove it. After six months of use through a NE winter, the gutters are clear, the guard undamaged and efficient. I couldn't be happier. Save thousands and get a better product than the highly advertised brands.

We initially bought 2 boxes which totaled 96 feet and installed on the front of the house. DIY installation went well...strongly recommend using sharp aviation snips. Overall, they look good (pic1).This 1st batch did not overlap and butt end to end tightly. It left small square holes where they meet (pic2). I think the machines at the factory need recalibration to have the cuts right. After seeing that the gutter guards worked over several good rains, we bought 2 more boxes and completed the back of the house. This new batch came with pre-drilled holes for screw placement while our 1st order did not (pic3&4). This is a good sign and indicates the company is trying to improve on their product. Although the new batch came with pre-drilled holes, a lot of the ends were frayed (pic5). Wished I could have taken a better picture. In my opinion, this indicates the blades need sharpening or replacing at the factory to provide a cleaner cut. As the product still needs improvement, we rate this a 4 out of 5.

I live on property in the Pacific Northwest with several 100' fir trees that drop needles, pine cones, and small twigs constantly, along with the occasional large branch. I'd clean my gutters and they'd be clogged again within months, including the downspouts. Seeing that I'm getting older and bending over to clean gutters is becoming more and more risky, I needed a solution.I bought these based on price and reviews. It took the better part of 3 days to install them around my house (and then found I was ~2 feet short!) I initially tried using just a ladder but found that installation while laying on the roof was much easier. The hardest areas were my outside corners where the shingles dipped down into the gutters (see picture). I had to gently pull them up to get the guard underneath but then had problems sliding it under the shingles (after following the instructions for cutting and bending it 90 degrees). The first two were pretty crooked/smashed but I eventually figured out that I needed to cut away a large rear area of the guard (roof side) so that it would fit around the corner. Trial and error but after cutting away enough of the guard it slid into place fairly easily. Trick is to not cut too much or you'll create an opening. The inside corner wasn't nearly as difficult but later I found that during a big rainstorm the water was running over the edge of the gutter because I only have about 2-3" of the guard exposed which couldn't handle all the runoff coming from the roof valley. So using some spare sheet metal I rigged up a stopper (see pictures) that so far seems to be working. Just not sure how much tree junk may collect there over time--we'll see. Easy enough to clean out.I also had one issue with a roof nail being in the way which required me to cut a notch in the guard for it. There are also some small openings/gaps between the guards where the screens are bent down a bit on the end. Not too worried about those at this point. Only other complaint is that since these guards lay on top of the gutter, rain water tends to collect and drip frequently at the edges. All in all a long but not terribly difficult project, and I can see that they're already doing a decent job keeping the tree needles out of my gutters.

After years of climbing on the roof to blow out our gutters I decided it was time to get some kind of gutter covers. A few years ago I got a quote from a respected company and was floored by the cost and not impressed by the product, so continued to blow out. We've got big trees close to the house that drop a lot of leaves and seeds and acorns onto the roof and into the gutters which clog the down spouts. After a ton of research and looking at what some friends have installed on their homes and how effective they were, and how outrageously expensive, I chose these Superior Gutter Guards. If your get a quote from Xcompany you'll be floored with the ridiculous cost. It's like someone gave them license to rip people off. So decided to buy and self install. I'm 70 years old and a fairly good DIYer but found these guards to be as good or better than any leading brand, much, much cheaper, [just get an estimate from Xcompany], and to be easy to install. Watch the YouTube video. Now I've got a ranch style house with no 2nd or 3rd story gutters so not danger off killing myself. For an average home, they are quite easy to install, especially if you are a bit younger and spryer. I haven't had any heavy rains yet so can't swear how good they will perform, but I am confident they'll work as good or better than others that might cost as much as 10 times what these do per linear foot installed. You could even find a local handyman to install lots more reasonably. We are in a drought so no rain, but as the leaves are already coming down, I see them blowing off the roof instead of going in the gutters. Hooray, no more climbing on the roof.
