Wow! I put one of these lights on the front and back of my bike and the results were immediate!!! Cars and trucks now slow down and move over when they see me. They can see me from at least 1/4 of a mile away now on the straight roads. In the past, only a few vehicles acted like I was even there.

The build quality is evidently very bad! I recently purchased my second NiteRider Solas 250 bicycle Taillight. My first one lasted about 6 months, then it would shut off just minutes after being turned on, even when it was fully charged. Now my second one, after four rides is also shutting off after just a few minutes with the battery fully charged. I am very disappointed, especially since this taillight cost so much. I would not recommend buying a taillight from this supplier to anyone, because it isn't reliable at all.

I really like this light. It is very bright and has several modes you can toggle in order to get the effect you want. It is compact and easily slides onto the back of my seat pouch. I really like the fact that it has a small catch on the inside of the attachment slide to prevent it from getting bounced off. Not many lights have this, and I have lost a few because of going over rough terrain. It also comes with an elastic band to attach to your seat post. A single charge only lasts about 3 hours so if you need longer time, get a light with a bigger battery

The thing that I love about this tail light is that it has a blinking pattern where every third blink is very bright. It really grabs peoples attention. The downside is that the battery life is relatively poor. I can only get a few hours of riding in before it has to be recharged. None of the other lights I have provide such poor battery life.Having said that, when I lost the first one I purchased another. I just love that bright three blink pattern and I generally only ride for 30-60 minutes a day, so the short battery life is not a serious issue for me.

I have been using NiteRider lights for over 28 years and they have all been cutting edge technology. I have seen some complaints on the light coming off during a ride, I can see how the clamp could be installed upside down and then not allow the light to lock into the mount. Look at the mount and light carefully before you install and make sure it is right side up, if so the light will not come out unless it hits something like a tree branch. All bets are off it you run into a branch as any light will likely come off,

One of my goals as a bicyclist is not to be killed by a car, and to that end, I want to be lit up like a Christmas tree when it's dark outside. I had a tail light of about 70 lumens, which seemed bright, but road testing it showed that it was not quite bright enough. This light is 250 lumens and it has a nice, eye-catching blinking pattern (among others) which makes it very easy to see. I like being seen while I'm on my bike, and this light does the trick. Heads up, it takes a while to recharge, a couple of hours, but it lets you know when the battery needs to be recharged by blinking blue/white instead of red as you turn it off. Pretty easy.

I bought it to replace my CatEye rear light. I compared both light and I can say the NightRider Solas 250 is really more powerfull than my CatEye light.I recommande this light to everyone who want to have a really powerful rear light.

[EDIT] Not happy with the Niterider Solas's seeming, and what I experienced, average life expectancy of 2 years at which point the length of time of use is reduced to under 2 hours, I've since switched to the Lupine "Rotlicht" because of its quality of construction, brightness and width of beam, waterproofness, extreme programmability, and its ability to change its rechargeable bulb when it eventually dies. I reduced my rating to 4 stars because of this because, otherwise, the light is very good.I had spent many months trying, buying and rejecting all rear lights. Personally, I'd rather have one with batteries that I can remove and recharge on my own so that, in an emergency, I can either buy them or simply carry extra and not have to wait for a recharge. So, I compromised here because, face it, there's little choice in that regard. Once I realized how effective this light was, I bought two to solve the emergency consideration. What I love about this light is that it's bright enough to easily be seen in the daytime, but able to incrementally dim when riding with others. But what I REALLY like is the wide angle of brightness, a real advantage for those who hang their light on a saddle bag that is aimed somewhat down in the rear. And, yes, the rain proof fitting on the bottom takes some judicious wiggling to keep it water tight.I also like that, when the battery is recharged, the light puts out a blue color so it's obvious. In terms of longevity, based on experience, I expect this light's active use interval to shorten over time as any battery run item would. My experience with this light expects it to last 2 years at most. The shortest time I've had this light retain its multiple hour per ride usefulness is 1 season. This can be vastly improved by allowing for a battery exchange. Oh well.
