The sec I put it on it started picking up channels inside my home. The factory one could not pick up inside my home this one did.

Let's say it up front, all antennas are a compromise. Going with a stubby antenna like this Newones NW-805S, you're choosing to give up transmission and reception distance, for less stuff poking up into your eye while you're using the radio. But, how well does this work?I tested the antenna using three radios, the good old UV-5R, Tidradio H3, and the Ailunce H2 (so I could see how the antenna worked in digital modes). I have an analog and a digital repeater on the same tower about seven miles from the house. All three radios using the standard rubber duck antenna can hit the repeaters from inside the house. Putting the antenna on the Ailunce, I could still hit the repeater, from inside the house. Not even joking. I'm impressed. The Baofeng hit the repeater as well. The H3... had a little trouble, but it also hit the repeater from inside the house. And I'm done. 5 stars.I'm not going to try to see what the max is. Frankly, I didn't expect this much, so this has far, far exceed my expectations.Still, I threw it on the NanoVNA to see how it did with SWR and the Smith chart, same as I do for any antenna I test. SWR on 70cm was about 2.1, not exciting, but not terrible, at 441mhz. On 2m, the SWR wasn't great, at about 4 at 145.2mhz, but the Smith chart was pretty close to being at one (well, relatively close anyway). Not great, but my tests on analog above were on 2m, so while there is a bit of a pushback with an SWR of 4, it didn't interfere that much with the operation of the radios.I own a few other stubby antennas. I have them in both SMA male & female for use on different radios. I prefer buying the ones with a soft tip, as opposed to the hard tip here. However, none of the stubby antennas I currently own (got a couple of Smiley antennas on the way) perform as well as this one.If you're looking for a stubby antenna, you won't go wrong here. Especially if you operate more in UHF than VHF.
