I sent 2 samples in, and both got delivered (by tracking number). However, I only got the results for one sample, and no response to emails and phone calls to support.

First off, their claim of you receiving your results within 48 hours of the lab receiving your oil sample is grossly inaccurate. It took 5 business days since USPS delivered my sample to the lab before I received my results. I bought this kit because it came with a pump allowing me to extract oil from my engine in between oil changes and the WIX oil analysis kit that I previously was purchasing is no longer available at Amazon. Now the Under My Hood report that you receive leaves much to be desired; the report does not indicate which units of measure the values are reported in. Most values you can assume are measured as PPM, but my main issue arises from the reported value of soot in my diesel engine oil. Soot in oil is always recorded in percentage by weight. My value of soot was indicated in the report to be 40 (no % symbol followed this number). Am I expected to believe 40% of the weight of my engine oil is soot? When I emailed customer service at Under My Hood for clarity on this matter, I wasn't provided with any answer to my question just told that if the report states oil condition is normal that all is good. I don't believe the guy on the other end of the email realizes that if you spend close to $100,000 for these trucks nowadays that you expect something more accurate than just the "idiot light" saying it's all good.

This is a must have when purchasing anything with a diesel engine. It works for gas engines as well but I personally would only use it for a gas engine if I suspected an issue or for a very high dollar purchase. It is the only way to "look" inside your engine to see if there are any problems. They test for all the important indicators that will let you know where the potential problems exist. The tools are reusable and you would only need to purchase more containers to send the oil back to the company the samples.

The 2 test kit is an easy way to check your oil for contaminants that may be indicating potential future engine issues and catch them before they get worse. It was easy to fill the sample vial during an oil change I was performing. Then filing out the card and mailing it off was quick with the included pre-addressed and postage paid envelope via US Mail. The included hand pump and tubing allows you to extract an oil sample from your oil dipstick as well. The results were emailed to me in a about 2 weeks from mailing it off. Excellent way to know what your oil is telling you. Probably best to test oil that has been running for almost a full service interval to get the best results. 5 stars.

I'm still waiting for the results but the kit makes it easy to extract the sample and includes everything to make sending the sample for testing hassle free.

This kit gives you two pre-paid tests, ready to ship, and a sample pump. Everything you need to get started.I sent a sample out and they gave me results in exactly one week from shipping it. Blackstone usually runs closer to two weeks. This kit is a bit cheaper too. Granted, testing does not include TBN or fuel dilution, and the comments aren’t as detailed as Blackstone. But for someone just looking for basic wear metal and viscosity data, this seems like the best deal running. The website is easy to use. Just look up your test via email and phone number.Another feature you will come to appreciate is the charting they offer over multiple tests. Very easy to track the condition of your equipment. Data appears accurate and aligns with what I’d expect based on other testing done over my lifetime. Also impressed with the sample pump. Comes with two different tubing diameters and works really well if you plan to sample in between changes.Whatever you do, sampling is ALWAYS a great idea. Without it you’re just guessing or putting blind faith in the manufacturer intervals. Guess what, after the warranty is up, they don’t care about your vehicle. It’s up to you to make sure it lasts!
