Totally satisfied, it was even easy to remove from the cartridge and didn't get stuck to it as easily as others I've used before.

I've used this thing about 15 times. More than once I've had to apply much more torque than I'm comfortable with and it scares me to death it will break. However, it's been solid and hasn't failed me yet. Today, I bought a backup just in case it breaks. I would normally recommend the Ares, but at 1/3 the price, this item is the way to go.

Don't waste your time/money, just get the expensive steel wrench the first time. This product is simply too weak to handle the torque required to remove the oil filter cartridge on most vehicles. It might be able to handle it if you've been changing your own oil previously and your filter is only hand-tightened. I knew this was possible based on other reviews but I took a gamble, and I lost. I was encouraged that several had mentioned their defective products being replaced with a "new version" that worked better, and I hoped that this listing was updated with said new version, but that doesn't seem to be the case.My wife's car is going to have to run a while longer on a dirty filter because I'm not willing to waste the $50+ in oil that I had to put back into it once this wrench broke.Just another reminder- you get what you pay for!

Ordered this as i couldnt' use a strap wrench to remove the oil filter housing cap on my IS350.Once I got this, I made SURE to attach my wrench to the OUTER large nut on the tool.Worked like a charm!

Edited with an update. The seller contacted me and requested that I evaluate an updated version of this oil filter wrench. I agreed to do so, and they sent me the latest version (July 2019). It is a much better product, and I would recommend it. The original version of the wrench was a lightweight aluminum part that broke immediately. The updated version is made of steel (a magnet sticks to it) and is much more heavy duty. I tested it and was unable to break it in the range of torques that I tried (much more than used to remove a filter). I've attached pictures of the original (left, black, snapped) and the updated version (silver). You can buy the updated version with confidence.Original review was one star based on the first one breaking. The original text follows:DO NOT BUY THIS. It is made of poor quality "potted metal" and broke the very first time I attempted to use it.I purchased this tool so I can change oil on my Toyota SUVs ('13 Land Cruiser and '13 4Runner). The oil filter style requires a special wrench and this item was the correct design. I started with the 4Runner, and after removing the skid plates, draining the oil, and draining the filter canister, per the factory procedure, I placed this wrench on the filter housing and attempted to remove the filter. As soon as I applied force to loosen the filter, the part where the ratchet attaches snapped off.Unfortunately, I purchased this months ago, so I can't return it. Please do yourself a favor and do not buy this poor quality filter wrench. Find one made with better materials before spending your hard earned money.

I have been using the typical TOY640 oil filter wrench for 5 years which fits much tighter around the oil filter housing. I wanted to try this type because it had the form fitting sides for the slots in the housing. This is much easier to use since it snaps onto you 3/8" extension and doesn't require a socket to use it, but it doesn't fit as tight around the housing as the other does. Still works fine, but you need to be sure you have a good grasp so that you don't slip and Damage the housing. If I had to apply a lot of pressure, I may go back to the other style, but this is more convenient to use.

I had thought about a filter cup remover which could grab the ears on the filter cup to improve the amount of point of contact to be able to remove filters installed by unreliable shops who tightened them to a point where you could break the filter cup or the tool to remove them. And this was the answer. Works great, removes filters with ease and you can be sure you won't break your tool as this thing really grabs the filter cup.
