Hole placement is not precise. At all. They're not centered, square, or round, so plan to do some drilling and fitting (a long taper step bit will be a big help).Flange surface finish is terrible. Clearly clamped down and fired through the surface milling as fast as possible, apparently without bothering to check if the part was squared up beforehand or flat afterwards. Had to do the "sandpaper glued to glass pane" routine to get a usable surface.Casting quality is poor, so there's a lot of crackle and wrinkle on the interior faces (and powder coating overspray to go with it). Great for catching fiber from cloth or paper towels you might use to clean the chips left over from the machining process (I advise using the adhesive side of some masking tape to clean them out — make sure you take the baffle plates off to get all of em).Top holes and rubber are poorly matched. The oil fill plug is too large to seat securely, and the PCV openings are larger than the grommet diameter. The difference is enough to allow easy lateral wigglin' of the grommets once installed (yes, even with the valve and breather in).The gasket that comes with it is great — if you need more oil all over the inside of the engine bay. Don't even bother waiting to check it out. Go ahead and save yourself the time by ordering at least one fel-pro cork gasket and a tube of ultra black (or your preferred flavor of rtv — and I say that as someone who will use something like Permatex No. 2 over rtv unless I absolutely have to).All.in all, a solidly disappointing purchase — not because of the poor quality, but because (after accounting for the wasted gasket that was sacrificed in the test fit and alteration process and billing for my time doing the basic work that should've been done at the factory) it actually would've been much cheaper for me if I had got one of the fancypants moneybags vc options out there instead of this junk that I had to spend forever hacking away at just to make usable.

Well made Valve cover but on the 1985 jeep I used this on it wasn't mentioned I had to drill the passenger side cylinder head1/4 inch to 5/16 and tap as well as having to tap the 2 holes for the drivers side to 5/16 that is normally where the plastic valve cover has it's "guide" holes. Also had to use two 1/4 studs for the front and back of the valve cover because it is impossible to start the back with the supplied Allen head bolt. And the cork gasket is garbage.

Bought this as Used/Like New, not brand new. The valve cover was in brand new condition. It had never been installed. The Valve Cover has a good paint job and was flat as expected. It looks great. Some of the holes were 1/32-1/16 off and I had to ream out the holes to make them larger. The product itself was good and exactly what i expected. The holes being off slightly was not that big of a deal. It’s a product designed to fit multiple year models so it’s not surprising they were very slightly off.I suggest Using Allen head screws for the driver side and the one rear hole. As the valve cover does not allow enough space for a socket to properly install hex head screws. The front hole and passenger side holes had enough space for a socket.I used fel pro VS50244R gasket, not the one supplied. It didn’t need any RTV and works better than the cork gasket. My head already had the holes tapped so I did not have to go through that trouble.I dont Suggest buying a used product. Although the valve cover was in good shape, the cork gasket was already glued on and I had to remove it, my product did not come with any of the screws and it was difficult to find the right length. The used product was a 3 star. But the valve cover itself is what i expected And I would but again. But pay the extra money for a new one.

Excelente compra!

Fits for my 85 AMC Eagle. Does it’s job, if installed correctly, no leaks.

I loved this valve cover! The pictures do not do it justice and the metal is really high quality (and thick). The shoulder of the cover (where it seats to the top of the head) appears to be over 1/8" thick (might be 1/4" even). It looked so awesome until I realized it wasn't forming a complete seal on the passenger side of the block. Closer inspection and comparison to the old valve cover revealed that the passenger side of the cover (the straight side pictured) is completely different than the shape of the head. I did a little digging and learned that Jeep changed the head shape slightly in 1981 and this valve cover is for 81-86 4.2L I6 not 1980 and older (mine is a 1980). So alas, being completely useless to me, I sent mine back but If there was any amount of RTV that could have sealed this cover on, I'd have kept it because it looked so awesome! 2 Tips to be aware of:1) make sure your I6 is new than 802) use valve cover posts rather than bolts (it is easer to position the gasket if the posts are there to align the holes to)

The plastic valve cover that was on my 30+ year old Jeep was cracked and leaking when I bought the Jeep. This was the perfect replacement. 'Had to tap some holes in the head that the original cover did not use. Used a regular tap and then ground down the tip so that it would tap deeper. You might want to get new rocker arm bridges to replace the factory ones that have studs attached for the plastic cover. I took my originals off and ground off the studs, but the bridges got bent up in the process. Made them work, but it would've been a lot easier to just replace them with new. Here's a tip for installing the gasket; turn the cover upside down on your work bench, put blue form-a-gasket/sealer on the gasket just on the side that goes on the cover, use the bolts provided to put through the gasket to hold the gasket in place until the sealer dries. After about 30 minutes of drying time, put vaseline on the side of the gasket that goes against the head (makes gasket removal easy in the future) install the new cover and torque the bolts evenly in a circle pattern from the inside out and in about 3 or 4 steps until you reach the torque you want. The new cover looks great, and I'm sure it will last a lot longer that the original. One more thing, the little bolts for the ends of the cover were just a little short for reaching the threads in the holes. After torquing the side bolts a little, the gasket was compressed enough for the bolts to start in the threads, and no problem after that.
