I ordered this one because it looked better than the other cheap versions and based on the other reviews. Also, it was advertised as being made of 7075-T6 aluminum, which is a very strong alloy. However, when I received the product, it said 6061-T6 on the packaging(2nd picture). This is a bit disappointing, and the locking bolt at the bottom of the plastic cover is not made of aluminum but of cast iron, contrary to what it looks like on the product photo. Apart from that, the stem works as it should but may not be worth the extra penny compared to cheaper versions.

Used it on my E Bike, much stiffer than the other quill adapters I've used. Turned a 1970's vintage bike into being able to take a current threadless stem 👍. DEFINITELY worth the extra few $$$. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I’m sure the stem would have worked well but I didn’t install it. The picture shows a sleeve to be used on a 1 1/8” tube and I needed that but it didn’t come with it.

If you want to change from threaded fork to thread-less, you don't need to spend money for new fork. Just this get his part and change your old bike to new trend looking bike. I used 1'' to 1 1/8'' part on my bike and it looks nice. You don't need any extra part except a stem and handlebar. Just grease this item and put it on your bike.

Looking through Origin 8's Catalog, it seems these guys really know what products customers want. All of their parts are outsourced keeping costs low for the customer which is pretty important since these parts are generally targeted towards a younger audience. Those who somehow still believe that outsourced /= quality, you might have to do a reality check. This Quill Stem adapter fit PERFECTLY onto my Vintage 70's Nishiki. Like others have said, make sure you get the right sized adapter, though this particular size is the most common, a lot of bikes might be different. Measure your old quill stem before you order this adapter, simple.Install took about 5 minutes. Only thing I'd wish was that it came with matching colored stem spacers, since most people getting this want to keep their vintage bikes close to the OE look, and typical black spacers would just look silly.

I wanted to upgrade my Globe Roll 8 from a quill stem to a threadless stem. The Globe Roll 8 has a more aggressive riding position, putting more of the rider's weight on the handelbars. The old quill stem that comes with the bike is not strong enough to keep the handlebars in place when you hit a bad pot hole (I live in NYC). I bought this adapter so I could use it with Origin8 Pro Pulsion Alloy Ergo Stem, which has a stronger clamp (four bolts). Both work well with my bike.
Happy trails and cheers!

This adapter works great. Even on a French sized fork... with a little elbow grease. I went gun-ho on this front end overhaul so that I could get a more comfortable handlebar/braking setup for a 1974 Motobecane Mirage, which turns out to be a hand made French bicycle. With the odd size of 22.0 mm diameter instead of 22.2 mm standard that the rest of the world used back in the day. After a couple of hours with some 60 grit sandpaper and my trusty caliper I was able to shave off 0.2 mm from the diameter of this adapter and still achieve the desired current stem for my trusty road bike. I would like to advise people to first scoop up a caliper of some sorts to check the fitting inside of the fork before purchasing so that my mistakes can help save other people the time. Once I finished sanding this adapter down it slid right into the fork and was ready to be tightened. Great way to give you some more options on an older road bike with 1" forks.

There is nothing wrong with threaded forks, but less common are the choices of stems. Modern threadless stems have many quality choices often for not a lot. Boom! This product bridges the chasm. I used it as part of an update to a 1983 Miyata steel frame. With some other updates, I was able to get a really great riding bike that fits and works great. Only wish there were some spacers as it allows you some height adjustment. standard spacers are to big.

I paired this with Origin8 handle bars and stem in the polished finish. All parts were well made and looked great. Word of caution: good luck getting anything standard sized to fit into 1970's Motobecanes! I had to use some heavy grit sandpaper to take this adapter down a tenth of a millimeter or something like that.. thank you, France. -No knock on the adapter though, just a heads up. Very quality part, and now is riding great.
