Works as it should, appreciate the extension, which helps in tight quarters.

This is a solid tool. The shaft is 0.63" / 16mm in diameter. The nuts are M16. The second shaft engages about 15 threads when screwed onto the primary shaft. This can be important if you're really hammering down on a rusted part. The included nuts "lock" the forks in place so they doesn't just flop down on you. Nice alternative to just using a crow bar to loosen the axle, especially if space is limited. Potentially you could use different attachments on this tool. Both forks are threaded and screw right onto the threaded ends. This set comes in a shipping box with the firm blue foam as pictured and is intended to go into a toolbox drawer. There is no case. Just had to pull an axle due to a ripped outer boot so this is handy to have especially if you're working with jacks and not a nice hoist. Included weight is enough to overcome the sticking force of the circlip that locks the inner joint in the transmission, not sure if you were to use a different attachment and tried to hammer out a rusted bearing but might work.

I was removing the axles for replacement in my 2004 325xi (front CVs) and had a gigantic issue - the retaining ring on the old axle wedged itself next to the splines in the CV shaft tube on the passenger side. I used enough effort to basically turn the outside of the boot into scrap metal. I even used an impact hammer on the lip to try and get it moving, but couldn't get it going with such a small target area.Enter this tool: I put it all together and clipped it behind the rear edge of the axle and gave it a couple hard pulls - et voila! It came free!! I was so happy with this thing. I wish I had had it for years!!

I don't normally write reviews unless the product just does it's thing so well that it impresses me just with its pure functionality. That is what this tool does. I know it's made in China and I'm not a fan usually but this things pure solid state...smooth finished..easy gliding...puller of mass destruction...2 light pulls and out came the cv axle. I have literally fallen on my butt trying to pull out a cv axle just by hand....it took me and my wife and we both splashed out on the garage floor lol. Not anymore. You will spend more time assembling and disassembling the tool than the actual job will take. Enjoy.

This tool needs to be in every techs toolbox. Or you could spend$400 for the snap-on equivalent. This removed the axles from a 2006 Ford Focus in Fine Fashion.Save the several hundred dollars difference from the part the guy in the truck is selling for your retirement fund. Or, blow it all on your favorite vice.

I recently used the slide hammer on a tough axle replacement, and it made the process a lot smoother. The set comes with a slide hammer, two CV joint forks (50mm & 64mm), an extension rod. The slide hammer itself is 22.9" long and weighs in at 4.7 lbs, making it solid but not overly heavy. Made of heat treated 1045 steel construction and black oxide coated forks feel durable, and the chrome plated slide hammer feels well made. I appreciated the well thought out foam tray. The kit works with 5/8"-18 adapters, and the extension rod gives you a max length of 45.8". The threading fits perfectly, and the M16 nuts held the pieces securely. Cut down on the time it took to remove the axle without damaging anything.

I am a mobile mechanic and have always made do with pulling stuck CV axles with any other resources except the right tool for the job when it comes to pulling CV axles. I regret not buying this tool sooner in life to save me what could be dozens, if not, hundreds of hours fighting stuck CV axles. This slide hammer set is generally one tug and the axle pops right out 99 percent of the time! super happy with the quality of the tool and the very nice foam tool cutout tray to give the tool a permanent home in my toolbox. this tool will make life easy!

On one of my recent CV axle jobs I needed more length for the slide hammer. My traditional slide hammer (the ones you see in 19/20 piece kits) is a great slide hammer but did not include an extra extension to increase length.Weighing this slide hammer against my traditional slide hammer I found it to weigh the same as my older slide hammer although my scale was claiming 5.8 pounds for both so some inaccuracy there in my scale (advertised at 4.7 pounds) but I measured both against each other in the same conditions and weighed with the nut on but no CV remover tool. This slide hammer provides that extra length and, as you can see in the picture, it does this very well! It also includes two CV axle puller tools which should fit a lot of the inner CV axle housings that you encounter.I would have preferred to see this kit come in a hard case as this is a very large tool and I won't be keeping it in my tool box due to this. Additionally, the large weight of the slide hammer make it likely that the tray will suffer damage in transit (see picture). I think the tray styles with the faux carbon fiber top would be less likely to suffer. Orion Motor Tech does offer a slide hammer in a hard case but sadly that one seems to lack the extra extension. The finishing was good on the tool except on the inner threads of the extension bar which were already rusty due to a lack of full finishing on the threads. Not really unexpected as you don't want a lot of finishing here as it would disrupt your ability to thread the extension bar on. As such, make sure you put some lube on this right after receipt of the tool.Happy for the extra length this tool offers. I did try researching loose extension bars but found them to be so expensive that it didn't make sense to buy one loose.
