If you're looking for a one time use clamp I guess it works but it is neither efficient or safe. Used it without an impact wrench on a basis mt03 shock spring and it took about an hour to compress the spring. Also, putter metal warped from having to hold it with pliers to get enough leverage.

With that being said, it worked fine for me, didnt break, or bend but it does give you quite the workout. One thing the instructions do not mention is lubrication. Lubricate the inside of this tool, and its threads copiously with wheel bearing grease! It makes a lot of friction while working. Use the longest handled ratchet you have, you'll need the leverage. Make sure to get the tools 180 degrees apart and tighten them up evenly. Use an adjustable wrench to hold the top of the tool while your tightening it. Lastly, dont expect this to last much more than three of four spring changes. It is identical to the Tusk brand, I needed it overnight, so I bought this one, but if you can wait, the Tusk brand is ten bucks cheaper.

This is great for bicycle shocks but too weak for most motorcycle shock springs.

I bought this to compress a rear spring on a KLY 650. Spring was on the higher end of tool recommendation, but not over. Followed the instructions to a 'T' and the metal housing completely failed and twisted once I got to the point where the real compression was occurring on the spring. I read the the negative reviews and like a fool said it was possibly user error. I was wrong. I will be taking it to a shop to have done.
If you don't have one of these, get one!

This arrived with a dented up case, which wasn't the end of the world I guess. This product may be good for something, but not for motorcycle shocks. Count your fingers before you start because when they fly apart you may have fewer than when you started. They are on the right track but they need to beef these compressors up a bit.

It did the job. But the outer covering bent when being held with a wrench during compression and release. Used this to remove old spring and install new Progressive 1000/1200lb dual rate spring onto 2005 Goldwing shock. Again, it did get the job done, it's just I think the capacity may be overrated.

Been looking to swap springs on my older generation rear shock and the new spring was a tad longer than the original...about 1/8th of an inch or so what keeping me from sliding the lock nut in place correctly and being a quite heavy brand new spring I did not want to scratch it up using brute force with plyers or other means. This is a nice short set of compressor that worked flawlessly. I had access to a car size compressor but it was way too big. This shorter slimmer set is perfect for mountain bike and/or motorcycle size springs.

I bought this to dissasemble a rear monoshock. I adjusted it so far and unfortunately it wasn't up for the task. I believe this tool will be more suitable for dual rear shocks with thinner springs.

Good product. They aren't built like a tank, but you're not working with tank track. Interestingly enough, tank tracks have these things called track jacks that are identical to these, but weight about 90lbs each. Excellent value and a good tool to have. Much easier than using spring compressors for an auto. Put one in a vise, lay shock on top, put the other on top and that will help you keep everything under control.

This work perfect on ATV and mini truck springs, I've used them several times with no issues. I doubt they would work on any passenger car but do great for what they are intended for.
