From the Manufacturer

The PanaVise 335 magnet base mount is designed to utilize the power of its integrated magnet to provide dependable, but easily detatchable security for a variety of PanaVise work-holding tools in work settings dominated by metal surfaces such as machinery, truck beds, sheet metal and tool boxes. The base mount is composed of two pieces: a mount bolt circle with a triangular array of three pre-drilled and tapped holes, and a magnet located at its center. Compatible PanaVise work-holding tools -- including the 201 PV Jr. vise, 300 and 305 bases, and associated vise combinations -- attach the to mount bolt circle with 1/4" screws (sold separately). After bases or vise combinations are attached, the magnet holds the entire assembly to any flat, ferrous metal surface. The 335 magnet base mount securely supports up to 5 lb. at a 90-degree angle. Its magnet is also slightly recessed into the mount bolt circle to avoid scratching metal surfaces during application and/or removal.

Exactly what what I was looking for, a precision vise for delicate work. I used the low profile base and added the magnet since my work area is all metal, so I'm not limited on where I can place the work piece

I ordered this Panavise 335 magnetic base along with the PanaVise 350 Multi-Purpose Work Center...and realized they are incompatible. You can either use the tray base or the magnet base, but not both at the same time. Taking the 335 and using it as a template I drilled and countersunk three new holes turned 30 degrees from the others. This recessed the 335 further inside the 350's tray base and once the included adhesive rubber feet were applied the base came out almost perfectly flat. The base is now more stable, doesn't slide and yet can still be easily removed by hand. This worked out so well it made me wonder why Panavise doesn't include the holes in the casting of the 350 Work Center's base in the first place.

While solidly built and perfectly machined to fit the 300 bases, it lacks a few things. First, it has a sprayed on finish. No powder coating, and it scratches easily. Second, the magnet could be stronger. It's plenty strong enough to stay in place on a flat surface, which I imagine is all it's intended for, but for anything atypical it's just not strong enough and will slide. Third, there's nothing protecting the work surface from the bottom of the base. There could be a rubber adhesive pad or something in place, but that falls on the user to implement some sort of protective layer. Other than this, I have no other complaints as the base works as intended.

Very strong magnet! I suggest putting a thin rubber or masking-tape gasket on it to prevent it from scratching painted surfaces it sticks to.I put one layer of green masking tape on the whole bottom of the magnet, and it no longer damages the powder-coat finish on my wonderful "QuadHands Deluxe" helping-hands product (buy one!).

If you are putting your Pan-A-Vise on a steel countertop or bench, this magnet will work excellently.

Nice strong magnet, and easy to mount/dismount from the base, while it's easy enough to remove from whatever surface it is sitting on. Does just what it's supposed to do.Also, although the description does not specify, it fits fine on the 301 Standard PanaVise.
