Purchased this product to connect a 115 hp Evinrude outboard to my 15 hp Johnson outboard. Drilled an extra hole on 15 hp motor, and was able to connect the two motors. Tried it out while fishing, and this steering kit is working as desired. Would recommend this purchase. Much access to access the front of the motors while in the water to connect/disconnect the rod, and much cheaper than other steering kits on the market.

I am using this on the salt water so I intend to replace it with a stainless steel one before next season. I bought this one to make sure it would do what I wanted since it was half the price of the stainless model. This was super easy to install (I did already have a bracket built onto my main motor so I just had to drill two holes in the handle of my kicker). Life is so much easier being able to steer with the main wheel where I can watch the electronics rather than sitting on a cooler in the back to steer with the tiller. I wish I would have made this upgrade 10 years ago.

I already own the stainless steel version of this product and bought this as a backup. From what I can tell they are identical except for the type of metal and this being the case this link bar should work fine. You can read my rating criteria below to see how I come up with my ratings and in this case there were no instructions included with the product. If you know what you are doing then you'll have no issues and in general the installation doesn't appear to be difficult. I wouldn't be surprised to find a YouTube video showing how it is done.I would recommend this product to a friend and/or buy it again.How I rate products:When I review a product said product automatically starts with four stars as I rarely will purchase anything below four stars. I then add and/subtract stars based on certain criteria as listed below.1. If an item is exactly what I expected and nothing more it will receive a four star rating2. Make sure you have a way to cut the rod without damaging the threads on the rod (a cut off saw or hacksaw with a vice). You do have to drill holes in your kicker to attach that bracket. It works great and is very simple.

With minor drilling and a little forethought in deciding where to best install it on my motors this works excellent. You can find more expensive products but this works perfectly. The design is simple so anticipate this will provide years of trouble free service.

Product works great. Both my motors are not at the same level, but with a little adjustment, the ends of the rod snapped perfectly into place. A quick and efficient way to steer your kicker outboard
