Tried saving a few bucks by using an aftermarket brand and it wasn't the correct length to give me all my gears. Had to buy the GM cable anyway, so I wasted more money than I would have saved. Just buy this one and skip the aftermarket. You'll spend a few bucks more, but save yourself from double the labor and wasting money on a cable that doesn't fit.(My truck, you MUST remove the driver's seat to replace the shifter cable)

Good factory replacement of 96 suburban shift cable, was a little bit longer than original, but the clip ends are the same length and worked fine once adjusted per manual.
Worked as described with no problems.

This worked on my 1998 Chevy Tahoe LS- After a 4th of July trip took us on some deep wooded, back roads, and deep water/mud pits we had an issue with our truck (she's old) would not shift from Park, R,N,D,1,2,3 Or Back. Lucky for us some young kids came along and showed my husband how to switch it manually into drive, we took the beast home right away. I hope that info helps as you might be trying to figure out if your replacing the right part. After researching for hours what the problem was we figured it was the Transmission Switch Cable, and as my husband removed the old one, it was tore in the middle where the weather could reach it most (Ugh, Michigan Snow) and replaced it with this old. Oh How I love the power of online researching and buying auto parts from Amazon. This saved us $300.00 in labor since my husband did the job himself. Word to the wise, shop amazon for auto parts, it saved us $22.00, just on the part. Amazon did not pay me to share this with you, I am just super excited not to dish out money on a car part. This truck is lovely, and I drive her everyday, which mean we have to replace parts from time to time.Shop Quote- 7/10/17Part- $77.00Labor-$225.00Do it Yourself with no transmission experience/just you tube videos/research (4/6 hours work) Have to remove drivers seat and carpeting too. Not to hard.Part-$55.00Labor-$Free

Installed this on a 2000 Chev 3500 1 ton flatbed, fit well and works. As I read in an earlier review I am also unable to get the trans to shift into 1st gear by pulling the lever all the way down but everything else is fine. I don't see any way to adjust this either.Also...you DO NOT have to remove the seat to install this cable, just pull the floor covering back and work underneath it. Mine has the factory vinyl floor covering, carpet may be different.I would have given 5 stars but it wasn't shipped until 9 days after the order, and arrived in 11. That is pretty typical for what I see from Amazon though.

I purchased and installed this part. It seemed a touch longer than the original but did not affect fit or function. It was easy to install and adjustment was super easy. I read of other folks having installation issues but dont see how. If it was technically too long to get good adjustment I would say to unbolt the shift arm on the trans and move the arm to desired position. THEN adjust the cable. This is a great part of good quality. Made in Mexico. I would rather have mexican made than chinese or taiwan like you most likely get at CSK, Oreilly, Napa etc. Also savings of 50-80 dollars makes it worth waiting a couple days to get. Oh yeah, its genuine AC Delco too. Im sold. I would buy another one in a heartbeat but it may outlast the truck. Thanks Amazon!!!!

Excellent replacement part. Fit like a glove, works like a charm, best money spent so far on my old suburban. If you did a lift on your suburban like mine, don't try to fit the floor board seal as it is. Detach and move it up. It does not take away from the integrity. Make the adjustments at the transmission end by pulling the clip forward and then pull the backing out a little. This will all be obvious when you are installing the cable. Set shifter in Park, set transmission in Park. Push the backing back in and there you go. Shift the gears to make sure you have it adjusted correctly. Don't forget to remove the driverside threshold, front seat and seat belt floor retainer to make it all that much easier to work...
