These are not as bright as the LED lights that came on my trailer, but I needed to replace most of them due to damage. The red strobe rotates on the outer most part of the light. It is visible with the running lights on, but there is only one set strobe pattern. I was able to use the existing pigtails on my trailer, so these were pretty much a plug and play with the exception of the strobe light (single yellow wire) that needed to be ran.
