We combined our latest generation AmFIB softshell and thermal fleece fabrics for a superior fit. AmFIB softshell covers and protects the front of the leg, the seat, and the calf areas from the elements, while thermal fleece fabric on the back of the legs and knees insulates and provides great breathability. Raw-edge bib straps reduce bulk and improve layering comfort. PI Dry permanent water-repellent technology sheds precipitation and helps keep the dual-density ELITE Levitate chamois dry.

Fit:Pearl Izumi clothing has a relaxed fit. So, when you see a size range, it's accurate, and not European, or Asian sizing, which both run small.Thickness:These bib tights are thick, and designed for winter conditions.Water repellancy:ExcellentWindproof:YesTemperature range:Everyone tolerates winter temperatures differently; however, as someone who tends to get cold easily during the winter, I've worn these bib tights in temperatures ranging from 26-40 degrees, and remained warm the entire time.Chamois:Thick, plush, very supportive, and all-day comfortable.Bottom line:Almost all of my go-to cycling gear is made by Assos; but, I like these bib tights so much, that these have replaced my favorite pair of winter Assos bib tights.5 stars

Have an old pair of PI tights - medium size that are too long in the leg for my frame and the chamois fits like a diaper. They are good for keeping the wind off the leg but never liked the fit. I own several PI shorts - all size small that work well for me. So ordered the AMFIB tights in SMALL. They appear well made and would give the protection and performance for long winter rides. The chamois seems dense enough although the chamois in my PI pro shorts is one of the best I own.But the sizing is way off on these AMFIBs. I could barely get these over my feet and could not get them up to my waist. The inseam length - as best I can tell - would probably work. Not sure I should even bother ordering a MEDIUM as will probably be too long.Don't know what happened to PI company. The factory where these are sewn must be staffed with tiny human test models. Disappointed.

I thought that I would receive these too late to test them in any cold weather, but then I got lucky (in a way) that yesterday the weather dropped down to the 40s F, and then I also got caught in some unforecasted drizzle to boot! This is my first full year training on a bike. I was prepared to use the trainer in bad weather, but after my first few sessions outdoors, I was reluctant to stare at a Zwift screen any more than I had to. I tried a few of my bib shorts with leg warmers, and they were okay, but I saw these tights and I jumped at the opportunity to a) test a product from a well-known major brand and b) try cold-weather bib tights.Pros: they kept me warm, once I got the proper fit, they were comfortable. They dried quickly after washing them (they spun out nicely and didn't hold much water afterwards).Cons: Thicker fabric means less flexible fabric. This wasn't an issue after I figured out I needed to pull these up tightly to my crotch, because otherwise it was uh...abrading my left one. Figured that problem out quickly and it was no longer an issue. Also, these are too long for my legs, so there was a bunch of loose fabric somewhere on my leg. It didn't bother me, and I think most people don't stress too much about aero in cold weather, but since they have to fit a range of people, one-size-fits-all means they erred on the side of too much fabric vs some people not having enough. Not a big deal.Remarks: Personally not a big fan of the laser-cut straps. They're thin and they roll up, hence feeling a bit fussier than my other bib straps, which don't seem to have that issue. But they are nice once they're on. It's a bit silly to emphasize thinness on a piece that otherwise makes so many necessary concessions to be thicker, though. Others have noted that the chamois is much thicker than usual; I noticed that too, but it didn't really bother me. It might've played a role in forcing me to find a proper fit, but I was able to ride comfortably with these bibs on.I'm not head-over-heels in love with them the way I am with some other bits of cycling gear, but I get the sense that people buy from major brands like this because you can trust that they get the major things correct which they did. I'm happy to have this tool in my toolbox for cold days, so that my knees don't freeze by the end of a long ride.

I'm an avid cyclist and I own a bunch of Pearl Izumi gear. I usually spring for their top shelf kit from their "Pro" line and have found it to be just as good as European brands. That said, this is my first pair of full-on winter bib tights from Pearl. I have to say they're really nice! The quality, the fabrics are all top notch. The chamois is on the thicker side, and that is true about my other Pearl bibs, but I seem to get along just great with them. They don't chafe or cause me any problems, and my backside always appreciates a little bit of extra cushion.I love the thin, laser cut bib straps. I have them on my other Pearl bib shorts and I think once you have them, it's hard to go back to the thicker hemmed straps that most shorts have. These just sort of disappear once you get them on and sorted. No chafing, no pressure spots, just softness. As one reviewer pointed out, it's true that when you're putting them on, they sort of want to bunch up or roll up. But it takes all of five seconds once you have them on to run a finger underneath them to get them to lay flat, and then you have comfort for the rest of your ride. I've never had a problem with these kind of laser cut straps rolling or bunching while I'm out on a ride.As cycling gear, these tights are meant to fit, well, tight. and because of the thicker, fleecy fabric these are made out of, they don't stretch quite as much as a pair of summer weight lycra bibs. But when you put these on, you can tell they're going to be warm and will do a good job keeping cold winds at bay instead of passing right through like lighter fabrics allow. Getting this on isn't like quickly pulling on a favorite pair of worn-in jeans. It's a process more akin to putting on a wet suit. Inching these past my hips carefully does take a few minutes, but once in place, they fit well--I'm 5'10" with a 31" inseam and 155 lbs with a cyclist build, and the medium is definitely the size that I needed in these. Some folks might argue that these tights would benefit from ankle zippers to help make it easier to get them on and off and to allow you to put these over your winter booties (if that's how you ride), and I can't say that they would be wrong. But with zippers, you also get the chance of chafing (a zipper rubbing against your Achilles is not something to be enjoyed over a multi-hour ride) or self-unzipping as you ride. The ankles on these tights are snug--as they should be to help keep out the weather and keep them from riding up, so it may mean you have to wear your booties on the outside of the tights, or invest a bit of time working them down over your booties. For me, I don't love the combination of cold temps and rain/snow, so I'm not likely to be needing to run my tights over my booties to help keep rain from dripping into my booties.I have not yet had a chance to put these to a road test--temps are into the 60s right now, and these would definitely be overkill for that kind of weather. Once we see cold temps again, I will report back on how these fare, but based on my experience with my other bib tights, I suspect that these will be among the warmest--or the warmest--in my substantial closet of kit.
