Our heater failed and the symptoms pointed to this being the problem. We ordered one off Amazon and I had a license installer put it in and within 15 minutes it was up and running again.

Worked exactly as advertised without the cost of a repair company purchasing the part.

Part works perfectly. Easy to install after watching a video on YouTube. Worked for error code 06. We will see how long it lasts but the original part only lasted 2 years. Good price to get my pool heater working again.

A few reviews here said these arrived defective after they tested "0L" on a multimeter. They are supposed to have a variable reading based upon temperature. The ones I received also had the "0L" reading at a cool room temperature. I heated them above 120 degrees or more as they would have when in actual use and they worked as they should showing the variable continuity readings. I suspect the "open" reading others received was due to the fact that they were below any normal operating temperature. I retested my "failed" old part with the 0L reading and did get a variable, however it erratically went to open to dead short to odd readings, so definitely and clearly failed part. I any event these worked and solved my cold situation :)

Product arrived on-time and as described. Error code "E05" on my Sta-Rite pool heater indicated the Stack Flue Sensor needed to be replaced. This happened to me a few years ago and my pool store charged me around $250 to fix it. All you need is a 1/2" wrench, flat head screwdriver and about 10 minutes of your time. Next day Prime delivery vs. waiting a week and wasting money for the service call. Replaced the bad sensor and fired up the heater - works great.

After watching a YouTube repair/trouble-shooting video on my Pentair heater, I ordered this sensor to make a repair. The sensor came in 2 days on a holiday weekend, allowing me to make the repair (July 4th) before my pool repair guy could make it out to do it. Easy to do the first time once you identify the broken/failed part. Worked well immediately, saving me the service call and a bunch of cash!

I was trying to figure out why my pool heater was not working. I tried everything. Then I read a review about this flu sensor. The reviewer said he had ordered and received two bad ones. He claimed they should read something like 1 to 3 ohms with a ohm meter, and they were reading 0.Well, after receiving two bad ones (only reading 0 ohms) I spoke to a representative from Pentair. He wouldn't comment one way or another on what the ohmic value should be for the sensor. He just questioned me about what I was experiencing when I tried to start the heater. From what I told him, he said it sounded like a water flow issue.I went back out and looked, and sure enough someone had half way closed the valve to the heater! Once I opened it fully, the heater fired up just fine. The stack flu sensor in the heater was the original that read 0 ohms.I know it's a long weird review, but I hope this info helps in your troubleshooting, and deciding if you've got a good sensor or not.

Bought a used pool heater from a local person sellling it and after a month and a bit it stopped working, after doing some research on the code it showed this part needed replacing, was very easy to replace and got my pool heater working again! Nothing like jealous neighbours when you can swim on cold days!

After I replaced the stack flue sensor, the issue went away.A couple of things to note to fix E05:a) the main circuit board located under the control board membrane should be cleaned, you can unscrew the 4 screws of the board and clean it. You have to disconnect the membrane connector on the left by pulling it CAREFULLY.b) the air blower needs to be cleaned thoroughly, there is an inlet and it should be cleaned of leaves and debris.c) the entire heater should be cleaned from debris and leaves. Especially on open contacts above the igniter near the gas which could cause a short circuit and an electrical explosion with gasoline. This is the most important thing to clean.d) the stack flue sensor should be replaced by a Pentair factory part. If it is not OEM, it can go bad again in as little as 1 month. Make sure you buy a factory OEM part otherwise the connectors might not fit. Poolandspasupply has the OEM part.e) the Pentair 77707-0010 Thermal Regulator should also be checked as this can be related to E05 or E06, it is located outside the enclosure between the water inlet and outlet. You can use a flathead screwdriver to release the spring loaded regulator and investigate it for corrosion.f) all of the electrical connections should be checked for corrosion, and short circuits between contacts. Spiderwebs, dirt, leaves or debris can cause electrical hazards which is why a thorough cleaning and vacuuming is necessary. How to check if the Pentair Stack Flue Sensor 42002-0024S is bad:1) Using a multimeter, set the device to resistance testing mode (The icon looks like a horseshoe).2) Put each multimeter prong on the stack flue sensor terminals. If the resistance measures 0 it is bad, replace the stack flue sensor. 3.5 ohm or higher means the sensor is working.
