I bought this so I could use my ef lense on my r6 camera body, and it fit into place perfectly. And I could see through it on my camera. But the aperture settings were showing “FOO” and my camera wouldn’t take a picture. Upon further research this is an issue with the electrical connection between the camera and the lense, which could only be explained by an issue with the lense adapter.

I only have one old FD-a Sigma 39-80 Macro, but it worked perfect on my R6 mkii. This mated properly on both ends and even offers manual aperture control. Now to start perusing all the area pawn shops. Vintage goodness!

I ordered this PHOLSY Lens Mount Adapter Manual Focus: Compatible with Canon FD/FL Lens to Canon RF so that I could use my collection of vintage FD lenses with my R10.One of the great things about mirrorless cameras is that will allow the use of many different vintage lenses. Of course, you lose the ability to use any of the auto features that we're all grown used to, but you will get rendering that is just.... well.... different from what you will obtain from modern lenses.I've always been a Canon shooter, starting with an FTb, moving to an AE-1, then an A-1, and finally to Canon's first affordable digital camera, the 300D. After using a 5Dii for several years, I decided to give the Fuji GFX system a try. That's when I discovered that I could mount my FD lenses to the Fuji with adapters. That led to a shopping spree of sorts, picking up all kinds of vintage lenses and the necessary adapters. While the GFX system is phenomenal, I wanted something smaller to take when the GFX is just to heavy for comfort. I chose the R10. Now I had to pick up a whole new set of lens adapters. I started with this one from Pholsy. It is nicely machines and fits the R10 with no play or wiggle. It goes on smoothly and comes off just as smoothly. My FD lenses also fit perfectly. FD lenses are notoriously difficult to install on an adapter, but I didn't run into any issues with the Pholsy. All of my FD lenses achieve infinity focus when mounted on the adapter.

Very nice construction, secure mounting of the my M42 lenses on my RF body but the mount does not engage the aperture pin on the lens so the aperture doesn’t close down.

Your G-type lens has a small sliding tab at the back that controls the lens' aperture. When attached to a Nikon F-mount body, the tab is accessible only to the camera. This Pholsy NG-RF adapter has a control ring with an internal tab that allows you manually to control the lens aperture from the outside. You only know the end stops for sure -- my Sigma 150-600mm DG OS HSM Contemporary, for example, ranges from F6.3 to F22 at 600mm. The control ring has 15 positions, however, so you can guess closely enough in between. This is a mechanical device only; there is no electronic communication with the camera body. Your Canon R-series will not detect a lens, so on the Custom Functions Menu, Tab 3 (on my R50, anyway), set "Release shutter without Lens" to ON.What you will lose:1) Auto focus (you knew that)2) Lens-based image stabilization -- Vibration Reduction on Nikon lensesThe second is a far worse loss than the first. Be prepared to shoot at high shutter speeds or use a tripod.Set your camera to Manual mode, set the desired shutter speed, set the Pholsy control ring to wide open or close to it, and set your camera ISO to Auto. Use whatever manual focus aid your camera can offer. My R50 has focus peaking and viewfinder magnification, both of which work with this device. In summary, within quite reasonable limitations the Pholsy adapter allows me to use a manually-focused 150-600mm F-mount (G-type) zoom lens on my Canon EOS R50. I'm very happy with this.

I got by base model R100 and looking to add some lenses so I thought this looked like a cool adapter. PROS: Attaches to the RF mount and the EF lens attaches to it. CONS: You can't focus or take photos, unless you set some options that I don't even have available.
