I am reviewing: Pocket Microscope for Kids Portable Miniscope: 60-135X Mini Microscope with 5 Prepared Slides - Science Education and Nature Exploration Gifts for Boys Girls 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 (Azure Blue)This is truly a pocket sized microscope. It is small, decent quality for the value, reasonably durable with care, and takes 1 AAA battery, not included. It comes with some pre-prepared slides, which is interesting. There is a good light. It has a hood that contacts the slide, then you use the focus to bring the specimen into view.Overall, it is a very simple tool. It is a little difficult to line your eye up to view the specimen. The viewing lense is very small.

My son loves this and uses it to look at everything. Its not exactly a 'micro' scope but it does zoom in a lot. The only con I have with it is that when looking at something, because its not a fixed thing, its handheld, it shakes a lot and you do have to do a lot of adjusting.

I got this for my niece and nephew to play with and look at bugs and stuff. I'm sure they will enjoy it for a little while...It is much smaller than I'd imagined (grossly 4" or 100mm tall) which is great for kids. Of course I played with it... From an adult perspective, there's maybe too much magnification to be practical for kids--it's really fidgety to get something 'lined up' by hand. The lighting is just OK.One last thing. The provided slides/samples seem to be real glass--I didn't break one to find out. I can't really recommend letting younger (or carless) kids have at those without some supervision...

This little dude is powerful So powerful, I am only giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Why? Because it is targeting kids. Which is fine, but it is so powerful, it can take a lot of work, to actual center this on and zoom in on what you are looking at. Now maybe with practice, and kids are pretty crafty, let's face it, this may or may not be an issue anymore. But, I even had trouble with it. There needs to be a somewhat better way to center what you are looking at.Keep in mind this is a "MICRO-scope" not a kids magnifying glass, it doesn't just magnify things, it REALLY zooms in there. No, it isn't 1000x's you are not going to see atoms and quarks, or Antman and Wasp in Quantumania, but it is very strong. And that at the same time, makes it quiet cool. The light is a nice feature. It is lightweight, takes a AAA battery and you're set.Have fun!
