If you have the slightest bit of skill with a soldering iron you can do it yourself. If you do not have that skill, you should have a guitar repair person do it. The mounting hole is slightly larger than a standard volume or tone pot (12MM vs. 9MM) which means that if you decide to go back to your original setup, you don't have to buy a new pickguard or repair that hole in your wood. The kill switch had basic instructions. Definitely not enough info for a first time install. There were three wires with connectors for the four contacts on the kill switch. No explanation what the fourth connection was for. The mini rocker switch for the 9v power is plastic and small. The least amount of soldering melted the inside of the rocker switch, making it useless. Took a lot of researching other similar products to figure out how to properly hook it up. There's also no videos on YouTube that show this switch. I'll go with Iron Age next time. They seem to have a more user friendly product. If you get this and have a battery box already, remove the terminals from the box before you solder. As for the rocker switch, buy some small electronic connectors so you can just plug it in and not melt the inside of the switch. On the bright side, it works good, it's small, so it fits anywhere, and the LED looks cool.

I had an issue with the install. Mostly my fault. (Be sure to use a stereo output and just follow those instructions.) I received an email at 5am on a Saturday in response to my very late, Friday night email.The customer support is second to none. We emailed back and forth a few times. The rep easily diagnosed my problem after I sent some pictures of the install at his/ her request.If you are looking for a kill switch, the is the one you need to have. Works great, looks great. Easy to install with the stereo output. Only suggestion is consider buying the one that's smaller than 12mm so you don't have to drill.

This thing is so clean and the color of the back light is just the right brightness.
