Q: Why does the charger not work with my batteries?
A: The DCB112 is designed to charge for DeWalt 12V/20V batteries. If the batteries are over-discharging and the voltage is below 12V, the batteries may drain or die, so the charger won't charge them for safety reasons.
Q: Why do my batteries are over-discharging?
A: Over-discharging protection is built into most DeWalt power tools, so batteries won't over-discharge while working. However, if you use an adapter with your DeWalt batteries, such as the power wheel battery adapter or USB charger adapter, over-discharging protection will be lost and the batteries will drain or die. Tips: Pay more attention to the SOC of your batteries when using an adapter for your batteries.
Q: What is the best way to determine if a battery or charger is defective?
A: Check your batteries' voltage with a multimeter if it is below 12V. If so, the batteries may drain or die, and the charger won't work properly; if not, you can request a new charger from the seller.

At first, I was requesting a return slip as the machine didn’t seem to work and the batteries didn’t fit in it. But we had a friend take a look at it knew what the problem was. Got it corrected and the machine works beautifully now so we will be keeping this and very happy even though it’s a generic charger, it is compatible with the batteries that we bought. Thank you.

Great battery charger

The pros- it works! As a DIY’er I have a healthy stock of Dewalt branded and after market 20V batteries.If you put a fully charged Dewalt battery (branded or not) in this charger it flashes red to indicate charging. It takes some time before it changes to solid red whereas on a DeWalt charger the full charged battery goes from flashing to solid red in seconds.The rest of the small but expected issues like how easy is it to slide the battery in and out for charging engagement all exist depending on the battery manufacturer. This goes without saying.The pamphlet included with the charger doesn’t provide any meaningful information.Overall a decent after market battery charger that takes some getting used to how it functions.
