I ordered this hoping it would be similar to the other resins and emit a lovely scent. I was hoping for a woodsy pine scent but this did not emit any scent whatsoever. Directions are not included, so as with the other resins I have used in the past, I assumed this would work the same way. I broke a large chunk into pebbles and placed a pebble on a piece of charcoal. A thick, white smoke was the only thing that came out of this resin. No scent at all.

I wanted to use these to make beeswax wraps. I had a super hard time getting this to melt the way I needed it for the beeswax wraps, I even tried crushing it. Product is probably fine, but not good for what I was using it for.

It is exactly what it says it is and was exactly as I expected. There are lots of different uses for rosin, so it's good to have around. The package was sealed properly and shipped well.

I ordered this pine rosin to use in cold process soap making. This rosin comes in random chunks that are light amber to yellow in color. It didn’t have a very pungent pine scent, which would probably make it a good choice for making beeswax wraps. I wanted to try it in my laundry stain sticks, as I had read that pine rosin can increase cleaning power in soap. I had also read that it can dramatically speed up trace. To mitigate against this, I crushed the pine rosin and then infused my oil with the crushed rosin over low heat in a double boiler, which took a long time. Pine rosin does not melt easily and tends to reform into a sticky blob when stirred. I then used the infused oil in my soap. I had a hard time finding the saponification value of pine rosin, but eventually determined that it is around 129.8. It still definitely sped up trace. It was not unmanageable, though. The resulting soap hardened incredibly fast. I let it go through gel phase in a warm oven and then cool over about six hours, but it was almost too hard to cut. If I do it again, I will cut my bars much sooner, maybe after four hours. Now that I’ve tried this in soap, I think I will attempt beeswax wraps. One thing I will say, there are less expensive options out there that are already crushed, and that would have been helpful. As far as value goes, this is middle of the road, there are more expensive options and there are less expensive ones.

This bag will likely last me my lifetime. Adding to our BOB bags and to our camping equipment for firestarting. Will crush some pieces to experiment with making a salve. Lit a couple of the splintered pieces and allowed for a quick lighting but slow burn to get the fire started in my fire pit alongside my dried pinecones and kindling.

This was a good amount of rosin for the price which I appreciated. There are some very big chunks in there for what I need it for but I don't mind that much. I use rosin for aerial arts, mainly on my hands for aerial silks. It was as sticky and effective as any other rosin ive used. The big chunks are I think a little easier to transport or at least less messy if I only break some at a time. And it'll crumble on its own as I carry it around in my gym bag. I put it in a sock to rub my hands on and I can crush it in there as needed. I think this amount will last me a very long time but I would by it again if I run out

Superb rosin. It arrived well packed, and I like the double packing because rosin becomes very sticky and with the double packing, there is less chance of spillage and tackiness on every surface. The rosin is mainly in relatively large pieces. I put a couple of pieces in a zip lock bag and pounded them until they were powdered. I did this on a metal plate so that clean-up was easy. Else, the resin gets everywhere and is difficult to clean.I use this in my leather conditioners to give a water-resistant coat. I made my conditioner yesterday and it has turned out very well. I plan to make a couple of other similar products using rosin one of these days. Rosin is a component of so many leather care products, it will soon all get used up.I like that this rosin is very light in color When I make my cobbler's wax with white beeswax, the result will be very light colored and perfect to wax light colored threads.Very pleased with this product.
