Works as expected. Rods had a sleeve and this helps push it off of them.

I've used this on Oliver small block Ford (302 size) rods that the cap was on REALLY tight, and it worked great! Simple. Made from billet aluminum. Has a plastic handle, but it's plenty strong. :)A tip... To make the cap come off STRAIGHT, just loosen the caps a little bit, then separate. Loosen them a little more, and give it another turn, and carefully work the cap off without getting it kinked sideways.Another tidbit. This tool was designed for rods up to the size of a small block Chevy... which has a 2.100" journal diameter. It works fine on a small block Ford with a 2.123" as well, but on a bare rod (without bearing) it won't go much bigger. A piece of rubber or something to take up some space would allow it to work on larger rods.I would NOT feel safe separating the caps on a set of nice rods without something like this. Tolerances are tiny, and using force to get the caps off is a BAD idea... and those suckers are often really doweled on there tight.Good Luck!

Worth every penny. Was building a LS 408 stroker with compstar rods. Only other suggestion is a rod vice but got by w/o. But perfect for a small block rod so don't waste the money for the other if your on a budget.
