I am extremely disappointed in the performance of these Purdy rollers! Firstly, do not expect the glass like finish promised in the description. This was the main reason I decided upon these Purdy rollers. Here's my experience.I used the high end trim and door paint in a 100% Acrylic Enamel in a pearl finish. It is $80 a gallon with tax and has very good reviews. I properly prepared my doors by washing them down, cleaning them, lightly sanding, wiping with a damp cloth, rolling two thin coats of primer, sanding in between coats with 220 and 320 grit sandpaper, respectively. The first thing I noticed regarding the Purdy roller prior to using it, of which I wasn't aware when I purchased them, is that they have no soft nap at the end of the roller. The end of the roller is a piece of hard plastic. So, I opted to cut in the corners and details of my shaker-style cabinet doors with a brush and then decided to roll the rest of the door with the Purdy roller. Every time I would come near the interior trim of the cabinet doors with the Purdy roller, the plastic end would scrape the paint of the interior corner that I just cut in with the brush! The hard plastic end scraped that paint off of the edges of the interior portion of the shaker door! I had to come that close to the edge so that I could remove the slight brush marks. I wanted a consistent finish/texture on the entire door. This is a poorly designed roller sleeve. It should have the same mohair end as the rest of the roller. The design of this roller is terrible!I made certain to apply thin coats of paint, so as to avoid the dreaded "orange peel" texture as much as possible, but still ended up with a fairly significant orange peel texture, even when sanding between coats! The other issue is that when you roll one way with the roller, it gives a smoother finish and when you roll the other way it gives a rougher, more textured finish. So that means you have to finish rolling your product on in 1 direction only to get the smoothest finish possible. This can be frustrating because you have to turn your roller around In various directions at times, and then figure out which way creates the smoothest finish, rolling in that one direction.I have to mention that I've done a lot of painting in my life and am very picky and always pride myself in a good job. I've painted many cabinets and pieces of furniture, so I am not an inexperienced painter, and it is not my technique that is the issue. It is the poor performance and design of the roller. These are expensive rollers, at over $13 with tax for just two roller sleeves! I expected so much more and am very disappointed, as I purchased two- 2 packs of the roller sleeves and 2 roller handles (so my husband could help), and now, we are out over $60 for the rollers and handles, and I hate them!If you are looking for that ultra smooth finish, promised by the manufacturer, for your furniture, doors and cabinets, move on to something else. I wouldn't even recommend these for regular doors and trim for your home because of the horrible plastic end, as you can't get into any corners, detail, etc. to go over any texture you leave with a brush. All of your cutting in the corners and details will have to be done with a brush and you will have 2 different textures in the finish because you can go over your brush marks because of the dreaded plastic roller end. This normally isn't an issue for me when using a microfibre roller because I usually use a brush for details and corners and then go over those details and corners with the microfibre roller to remove the brush marks. The problem with these Purdy rollers lies in the fact that when you're trying to go over your corners and details with the end of the roller, the plastic end scrapes the paint wherever wherever it touches and ruins your paint job! You end up either scraping your paint with the plastic roller end or having to not go over the areas where you painted with a brush, leaving the finish with 2 different textures. When I paint with a microfibre roller that has a soft microfibre end, I don't have this issue, because I can go over the corners and details with the microfibre roller, where I had previously painted with the brush. This gives a nice consistent finish in my door, without having brush strokes srokes and roller texture. I just have the roller texture over the entire door.Unless you are painting a perfectly flat surface with no corners or details, I do not recommend the Purdy rollers.I would have given the rollers a 3 star review if they had the mohair at the end of the roller, and not that hard piece of plastic. I would still be disappointed that I didn't get the ultra smooth texture that was promised by the manufacturer, but at least it would be a consistent finish. I think the practical use would be much improved if the mohair was at the end of the roller, rather than the hard plastic end. Be aware that even if this design flaw was rectified, you will still never get the ultra smooth finish promised by the manufacturer. It is back to the drawing board for my husband and I, and we cannot afford sprayer, and do not have the space to spray furniture, as we are tiny home living! Still looking for a roller that will leave the ultra smooth finish it promises.I really hope this review helps someone in their decision making. I just wish someone had warned me. Would have saved a lot of money and many headaches. Perhaps there is a better Purdy roller that has a soft end that won't scrape the paint and won't create the dreaded "orange peel" texture, but we have neither the resources or time to test them out. Take care, and happy painting!

I’m an experienced painter. After washing with warm water and gentle soap, rinse and let dry. Once dry, use roller. Excellent results, smooth and professional appearing! Perfect for cabinets! No lint if washed prior to use.

I can't imagine more perfect roller cover construction. The nap feels like satin or silk and it creates the absolute perfect smoothness and shine when rolling gloss Minwax Polycrylic over larger painted smooth surfaces. Sanded between dried Minwax coats with 3M 320 grit sanding sponge with very light pressure to smooth out naturally created bubbles by the Minwax, then reapplied. Washed rollers between coats then stored in a 2lb tall Kraft peanut butter jar filled with water, wiped on towel before use, blow-dried nap, applied next coat. Repeated. Bought multiple times for different paint colours too. In love!

These are great rollers for cabinets and walls. They don't shed which is great. Make sure to use a large mini roller and not a standard one!

Rolled unfinished cabinets and base trim/casing with these and they turned out beautiful. Used SW Pro Classic paint and the finish is flawless.

My first, impulsive, review was that they shed. They do shed. I was so upset. I thought that some of my dog's hair had gotten into the paint or on the roller. I wiped the roller, which was a mistake. It was the mohair from the roller. I was very upset, but I decided to leave the first coat on the doors alone and let it dry. Surprise! It looked beautiful! I could not get over it. I did 2 more coats with this roller on all the doors. The finish is flawless.
