Yes it helps filter the air coming in but it also stops you from looking out the window.

I am excited to have found this product. The materials are made of PET exterior layer and a filter. I like it so much I wanted to install it in every window around the house. The only thing I ponder is how long is the shelf life of the nano-mesh filter as it filters out smaller particles. I brought a leaf air blower and clean the dust that accumulates in the filter from time to time.

This was a new concept, like putting a furnace filter on your front doorscreen. We get a lot of dust blowing thru the house, due to 2 large 8 foot tall custom screen doors, one at each end of the house, so this has really helped with keeping our air clean. We made the doors, so replacing the screen was easy for us, since we screened them in the first place. But, screening is super simple, as we have done it on regular windows with a splinning tool, and an exacto sharp blade (the triangular arts and crafts type replaceable blade). We will be able to take our doors off and spray with hose, as we have done in the past. So looking for a long life.

I have no experience replacing window screens -- using this mesh was so much easier than expected! After noticing lots of pollen & dust buildup on my windowsills, I started researching (pre-built) screens with extra filtering but they are shockingly expensive. When I saw the QuietCool brand mesh screen, it was exactly what I was looking for and a fraction of the price compared to getting new framed screens, so I decided to give the 'DIY' method a try. If you do a search, there's a lot of good video tutorials you can follow along with. Aside from this, make sure you have something to cut the screen with (there's specialty products, but I did just find with old fabric circle scissors) and spline (I reused the ones already on my windows). Before replacing all the screens, I did just 1 so I could do a test: I cleaned the sills and left the windows open to see if there was any difference in the amount of pollen that entered. In just 3 days, it was very noticeable, as the windowsill with the new QuietCool had a fraction of the buildup the other ones did. So it absolutely does filter a significant amount.

I didn't get this for the clean air, that was jus a bonus, but for the ease of install. This was my first screen replacement project and it was easy to do. So far I only did one screen for testing, but next non rainy day, I will do more!
