Ordered this to remove / pull crankset on bike where I stripped the threads so could no longer use the usual tool. After failing took and then the hammer and crowbar technique, went to try this pulley tool. Had to cover pointed end with a socket as it went into the square taper bottom bracket but I was able to use this tool to hang onto the crankset and try to pull. In the end, I haven't yet been successful but it was not from this part that was able to tear apart the ring and mash the socket from pressure it was able to exert. I had forgotten to soak the crank with penetrating oil as it's an old bike and this was likely the reason I stripped the original tool in the first place. I will try again later after soaking the crank and heating it, but will have to say this tool is good. Of note, it comes in pieces but then that shows you it's versatility as the hooks can be installed in both directions or even inside out; also the hooks can be installed either as 3 way or 2 way, depending on your needs. Overall I'm pleased with this tool, especially given it's price.
