I so wanted to give this 5 stars but it let me down. I have loads of Rab products and they are all excellent garments. This is my most expensive purchase so far, but i was tired of other jackets not really keeping me warm. I ordered 4 top make jackets at the same time all boasting to be 800tog down. Thankfully on the day of testing we had snow outside with a fair chill factor so it was ideal. I only wore the jackets on top of a Rab thin layer and without doubt this is the only one i could stay outside in, so it was a no brainer. Ive worn it countless times and it wind protection is awesome. It was highly waterproof at the beginning, still is on the back and arms, but here is the bad bit! 3 months in, Im dropping my child off at school, not heavy rain but it was persistent and all of a sudden i felt damp under the arms. I got home and checked and right enough the rain had penetrated however many layers. it was disappointing, but i haven't sent it back because it performs in many other ways. Maybe its just mine, i don't know but its a big outlay. Im more than happy to just wear it on fair, cold or windy days as it is good. Try it and see for yourself.

This coat! Took it to Europe where it was in the twenties every day, colder even at night. Never needed my mid layer. Super warm, water resistance was great, fit was perfect. Durability so far seems great. I really like the way the cuffs fit snugly but are easy to slip my hand through. Hood is warm, and stays in place. Velco strap on the back of the hood let's me adjust the fit so it doesn't come down over my eyes and the stiff brim is a good feature as well. Zipped all the way up it keeps your neck warm and windproof. Only two very minor things for me. First, only a inside chest pocket so I unzipped a lot to get cellphone out for pictures. Second, fabric is crazy slippery (think silky) so you can't carry a backpack hanging off one shoulder as it will slide right off. Aside from those, this is the best coat I have ever owned.

Best jacket hands down for north east winters. Keeps you warm though freezing temps and I never felt cold when clearing snow in freezing temps and winds.

Jacket is too tight in the sleeves and arm pits. Any shirt I wear underneath it bunches up in the arm pits. Very uncomfortable. Also, there is not much loft, only a thin layer of goose down. Without being able to layer warm shirts underneath it, this will not be adequate for really cold weather. It weighs practically nothing, so that is a big plus if you are backpacking but for really cold weather, this won't cut it.

This jacket is nice and warm and glad i got it for camping in colder weather the only thing i was disappointed with is that it doesn't come with a stuff sack, but you can buy one from Rab website for £5 but for me it should come with jacket

This jacket replaces an older down jacket that I’ve worn for about 10 years. I love everything about this jacket except the front zipper. It’s on the left side, and I’m not a European. If that’s the worst con I can share about the jacket, that’s pretty minor. It gets 5 stars. ( I sure hope I don’t get mistaken for Brad Pitt when I wear it. Haha)

I looked at a LOT of jackets and was torn between this and the Arcteryx Thorium. So far I really like this jacket, as a tall person it's noticeably longer than the Microlight Infinity in the same size XL. One neat aspect about the velcro flap that changes the hood size - you can also roll up the hood into a sort of collar and use the flap to attach it to the coathook loop which is really convenient.

The title sums it up. Very well constructed jacket that can pack down in your bag. I feel like it’s warmth to weight ratio is very good. Two cons: price is steep and the upper arms are a little baggy for me. I’m 6-1 and 160 though so if you’re packing some decent guns, probably not a concern for you. This is on the medium size

Very warm and great value considering the quality of materials and design features. The cuffs incorporate a slit of stretch material that is perfect (I can slide my sleeves up when washing hands, etc.). The hood fits perfectly around the head and the stiffened peak keeps it from obstructing vision. Snag-free YKK zippers. The material feels pretty durable and has a nice finish (I have the ink blue and think it looks sharp). Medium fits me very well, I’m 5’9” and 150 lbs.
