Using the 120mm and the two lowest valued inserts (yellow and pink) I get a very dampened ride.It almost feels like there is a screw loose somewhere. So I need to get used to it.Someone else recommended using only a single elastomer insert (yellow),but I would not recommend it.

Gives a nice shock absorption and comfort.

I expected this to feel like the handlebars weren’t connected to the bike. But once tuned it feels exactly like any other stem side to side and upwards. But it gives just enough cushion on bumps that it really smoothed out the ride. Really enjoying it on my gravel bike.

At first, I couldn’t imagine that such small travel from this shock would improve the ride that much. It helped with arm fatigue, back fatigue, and made riding more enjoyable again. I was pleasantly shocked. I don’t know if it’ll work for everyone, but it definitely worked for me.

Nicely designed yet is not a light-weight item, not for a race or CX bike. Yes, it adds comfort on gravel and poor tarmac roads.

Purchased on a whim after realizing my wrists are just getting a little too beat up riding my new gravel bike. Gave the Redshift a try after all of the other great reviews online and I couldn't be happier! It's just enough dampening to take the edge of the sharp cracks and bumps in the trail and it really extended my first ride already. Wish I would've caved in years ago and bought one, I probably would have put on so many more miles! They're expensive, but completely worth it considering it's one point of only three you make with your bike! Happy Riding.

I have around 100 gravel-bike miles on the "Pro" version of this stem with the Ti hardware and different finish. The stem works at least as well as any other stem in terms of the function of mounting bars on a bike at a fixed distance ahead of the head tube. It looks great and is problem-free, no noises or sounds whatsoever from the pivot. There is no negative impact on control with this amount of travel. That speaks very well for a stem design where you have a mode of movement that other stems do not have. The worst I can say about it is there is a small weight penalty of about 100 grams versus a comparably priced non-suspension stem. I might hesitate to recommend this mainly because it is the price of a very high-end rigid stem, and the suspension aspect of the design is subtle to the point that I would need to put my rigid stem back on to see how much difference I can even detect now. The travel is rated at about 2 cm (20 mm). It is more like a bumper effect, especially given that there is no damper and so with each "hit" the stem compresses slightly and returns almost instantly (due to lack of damping) to the original position. It sounds obvious to say, but the experience will never approach that plush feel of a dampened suspension fork even over very small bumps. I tried a softer elastomer combination, and there was no real benefit. You might think a softer elastomer is more plush, but in practice you will be using up some of that 2 cm of travel in pre-compression. It is better to follow the normal (firm) manufacturer recommendation so that when you do hit a significant bump you have that "full" travel available.

I started cycling a couple of years ago and pretty hooked. This year I developed a pain on the inside of right elbow?Saw doc, they suggested it’s RSI.Definitely not my job, so, could be the front of the bike hammering my arms?So I decided to try this.I’m not writing this after a long term use and miracle cure. But just to let you know it does work. Not in the drops, geometry is wrong but on the bars and hoods yes.Zwifting now as it horrific out, it works static.Currently have the softest setting, will see how it goes, shouldn’t bottom out.Hope to update this review in a few months, but for now, if you are looking for some relief for aches pains, pins and needles, I’d say this is your best bet, it works well.

I bought this to use on my road bike to deal with our crumbling roads. I have a Wound Up carbon fork which helps somewhat but the jolts from pavement cracks and ruts still make it to my hands and arms. On my much older bike with an aluminum fork, I installed a much less sophisticated suspension stem and found it to help quite a bit, to that point where riders following my wheel would complain about getting beat up by pavement I wasn't even feeling. That old stem was rather floppy, though, allowing excess up and down and side to side play. The ShockStop PRO has none of the play of that old stem. It feels nearly as solid as my old unsprung stem. It does a good job of moderating the hits from road irregularities as well as general road buzz. Its limited travel does not impair its performance on pavement and I suspect that it would work well on gravel as well. It is easy to install. Changing the elastomers requires removing the bars from the front of the stem but that is easy enough and a one-time process. I'm 230 lbs and found the recommended setting to be just right.

Due to the increasing deterioration of roads in my area, I was returning from rides with numb hands, sore wrists and sore shoulder & neck muscles despite my carbon road bike with rear ISOspeed and 28cm tires and gel padded bar tape. My son told me about this stem. I ordered from Amazon & it was delivered a week to the day from my order. Installation was a snap, just had to change one of the elastomers for my weight range.I went for a ride yesterday, and wow, what a difference. You still feel the bumps from the heaved, cracked & broken pavement, but now it's just a muted thud rather than a jarring bang. No sore hand, wrists or neck today so worth the $$ to me. Even with the price + shipping, it's still a cheaper solution than a carbon stem & bar. Can't say I felt any noticeable up & down motion, it's that subtle. If you push downwards on the bars, you'll see the movement, but while you're riding, you don't usually have all your weight on the bars. As other reviewers have mentioned elsewhere, this doesn't replace a suspension fork which you're not going to have on your road or gravel bike anyway.
