A 22-year-old, 28" tall, Magic Chef dorm fridge. Had not run in over 15 years. I used this pair to replace the existing parts that went missing and the unit started and ran as normal. IT LIVES!

This relay kit comes with 2 parts. There is a flat piece and one bigger piece that has a rounded end. The bigger rounded piece is the actual relay. The flatter part is an overload protector. If your existing relay has three prongs, then this new QP2 4.7ohm relay will work just fine if you simply connect your refrigerator wires to the same prongs as your existing/broken relay. If your existing/broken relay has only two prongs, then you will have to connect your fridge's white wire to the number 2 terminal prong (relay has four engraved markings showing 1 2 3 and 4). Leave number 1 terminal disconnected and tape it up with electrical tape. Also from your refrigerator, tape up your existing black wire's metal connector which will no longer connect to terminal 1; it connects to nothing at all with this new relay. If you decide to connect black to terminal 1, you will 100 percent trip your home's circuit breaker. Lastly, just connect your remaining red or purplish cable to the overload protector.I don't fault the manufacturer of this replacement part for the issue above as that is more a problem with the fridge's manufacturer (in my case Galanz made the mini fridge) trying to make their product difficult for average users to service. My Galanz refrigerator is cooling again so 5 stars for the fully functioning relay kit!

I had high hopes but the switch I got is bad. It turns off and on. Can I trade it for a new one?
