I started with a synthetic head but switched over to the fiberskyn after I needed to replace it. I'm on my second fiberskyn head now and it's a great sound. I used to play a rope tuned drum because I preferred the tone, but it was inconvenient to keep having to retune as I'm a fairly aggressive player. This head is durable and is able to bring that more organic tone similar to what you'd find in a real skin/rope tuned drum.
