I was expecting it to be a quick swap and no modifications. The rod at the bottom was crimped and would not slip into the mounting hole. I had to drill the base larger for the rod to fit thru. A little more work and time while the food sat waiting.

Only 2 screws to replace and works great. Prior thermostat had gone bad and now the temp range runs and senses as expected. No more erroring out and shutting down either due to temp sensing issues.

easy to install, and i suspect it will outlive the original that had a quick disconnect between the sensor and the control panel. I believe the disconnect was the issue with mine as i could get it to work by playing with it. The replacement sensor connects directly to the control panel reducing that failure point.

My old one fell apart due to age. This one’s doing just fine.

Temperature probe works accurately for the couple days I have used it, but the ends of the wires are not the same as the plug that is on the tailgater model, so you have to pop out the pins and solder, to reuse the original plug female end...an extra PITA job

A direct replacement for the temperature probe in our Tailgater Series-20 smoker. Comes with one nut/bolt (vs two), so I re-used the old bolts to install. Extra long wire, so tuck neatly out of the way. This is a DIY repair.

I used this for a Window AC unit where the temp sensor had to be moved away from the unit.Works well, no issues.

Good value for money. With the new one in place I put a simple oven thermometer on the grills. The display goes up and down, but appears to maintain the correct tempature inside. Happy with the performance so far.

Replacing the sensor in my model wasn't easy. When I opened up my Trager I was amazed to see how flimsy and overall badly designed the controller part of the smoker was. But I digress. For this particular sensor, the wire was going behind a metal plate and through a hole that wasn't easily accessible. I believe the newer models are better in this respect but, if you find yourself in my situation, I suggest attaching a string to the two wires of the old sensor after you've disconnected them and before pulling them out. Then attach the string to the two wires of the replacement sensor before pulling on the string to guide the wires back to the controller.
