Hi! Professional snake breeder here. Been using these for roughly 2 decades with zero issues. These are what they sell with the visi*n series of professional racks to heat them, and I have some of those still with their original cable that are at least 15 years old.Here's how to make that happen for you too.1) You absolutely will need to use a thermostat to regulate the temperature. Temperature control should be obvious when working with reptiles, but for those who lack common sense- These do exactly what they are meant to do, which is get hot. So! if you're not too bright and leave them on full power ontop of a low density plastic they probably would melt that regardless of ventilation. They do their job, and plastic smokes when it melts, but that doesn't mean these "catch fire" when you use them wrong. The entire coating is in fact, flame retardant.Also, 2) never overlap the cable because that also would cause it to heat up more or unevenly. This is not rocket science folks, it produces heat, if you put more of it in a confined space it produces more heat in that area.3) Don't try to cut/rewire or let rodents chew on your cables. That could short them, but again, you will follow the directions and your cables will be controlled by a thermostat, so if this happens they would automatically be shut off.Folks these are very safe and last way longer than the other options, but you will need to apply a minimal amount of common sense.

Product was purchased for use in a breeding rack. They work decent for most of the time, the only issue is that it will struggle to get to temp at times.

I use two of these, one per set of two 40 gal tanks (with a thermostat) and after months of use my Temps are still steady and have not had any issues aside from the electrical tape peeling off in some spots. Would recommend stronger (more heat resistant) tape.

This product aught on fire when I put it under my snake’s enclosure. (The bottom is well ventilated and has room for air to flow under it.)I first noticed the smell of smoke after a couple of hours and when I went over and saw trails of smoke coming out from underneath and saw that the plastic had begun melting so I ripped it out immediately and misted down the whole enclosure just in case. Aside from the smell of smoke and a little plastic on my shelf it’s okay. But still this could be very dangerous and gets way too hot for reptiles.

UPDATE:Almost year later these are still providing moderate, even heat. I value the peace of mind they give me not worrying about fire hazards or my snake burning herself. She even laid her first clutch of eggs since buying these.These cables provide an even, radiant heat that's easy to apply throughout a reptile enclosure. I love it for my pet snakes logs, water dish, and hide. It reaches throughout the entire enclosure and is NOT hot enough to burn her!

I have 19 of these.. work great!!!! Use a thermostat. Regulate your heat. Protect your home.These are going on a year strong. I hope to get many years out of them. The seem high quality.Better than heat tape.Using for geckos, snakes, lizards, etc.

この長さで１５０Ｗなのであまり期待はしていませんでしたが、７ｍの鉄芯に均等に巻き付け穴をあけたアルミパイプに通して窓下に固定して結露防止に使っています。タイマーを併用しているので３０分位すると人肌程度に暖まります。

表面温度は54℃くらいなのでサーモを併用します。爬虫類の数が増えてくると圧倒的にヒートケーブルの方がコスパ良いしコンセント周りも綺麗になるのでオススメです。
