Veteran Wear Military Medals

Veteran Wear

Wearing medals and ribbons aren't just for weddings, funerals, and parades. You should feel comfortable about wearing your medals and ribbons outside of formal events.

In 2007 the Veterans Affairs Secretary released a press release, titled Veterans Pride Initiative, calling on veterans to begin wearing military medals and ribbons on patriotic holidays and days of remembrance, such as the 4th of July, Veterans and Memorial Day. It was a call to action for veterans to express their pride, remember their service, and to value their medals and ribbons as accomplishments, memories, and sacrifices.

A+++ Merchant with great Vietnam Veteran memento. Having served with 1st Cavalry Division (AM), I was stationed at Tay Ninh (on the Cambodian border) with the 1st Brigade (Airborne) of the 1st Cav from March-July 1970. The 1st Bde of the ARVN Airborne Div was also stationed at Tay Ninh. I briefed the Bde Commender, Colonel Robert C. Kingston (Later served as Delta Force Commander) and staff (including the ARVN Colonel Bde Commander was always included in those briefings). I flew daily with him in his UH1 Delta (Huey) C & C Helicoptor as his Field Artillery Fire Support Officer. The Assistant Division Commander A (Operations), Brigadier General Robert M. Shoemaker (later retired as a 4 star General after serving as FORCECOM Commander) led Task Force Shoemaker including the 1st Brigade of the 1st Cav Div, and one brigade each of the 25th Infantry (Tropic Lightening) Division and the ARVN Airborne Division into Cambodia on the first day of May (Communist international holiday), 1970 for a 60 day incursion to capture and remove the contents of the many camouflaged underground bunkers containing great caches of weapons, ammo, food & medical supplies. These were the weapons of war carried down the many "Ho Chi Minh Trails" thru the sovereign nations of Thailand and Cambodia to pursue raids and attacks across those borders into free South Vietnam. Following the Cambodian Incursion the enemy attacks on US fire bases dropped off substantially.
