I’ll never be without one in my car. Last night I missed a sharp turn and ended up in a canal. I used the one I had in my car to break the window to allow the water to come in and equalize the pressure so I could open the door

We keep one on our keychain and another in our car. Very good idea.

This device has a “cover” upon which is a key ring. If you remove your headrest, you can slip the key ring over the post when you reinsert the headrest. To use the device, simply pull on it, it separates from the cover, ready to go. Best idea is one on each front seat headrest, all four passengers can reach one. If you have third row seats, definitely have a couple back there - the third row is hard to escape. It is the first thing I do when anybody I love gets a new car - stock them up with this handy, inexpensive, and crucial safety device. DO NOT TEST ON YOUR CAR WINDOW … or your hand. Ouch!

These little guys work perfectly for easily breaking windows to gain entry into vehicles. I was able to test them at a local junk yard. Great product, great price!

I keep these on every vehicle key chain for my family. I do water rescue and have found that if I try to break a window on a submerged car by swinging a pointed object into the window I cannot generate enough speed to pull it off sometimes. This spring loaded device has allowed me to break the window even when I cannot generate the momentum to get it done. If your car goes in the water you will absolutely need this device. Remember to get everyone in the car unbelted before you break any windows as the air pressure will buy you more time before the car sinks.

Just had to use one of these that I keep on my keychain. I was first on scene of a nasty wrong-way crash. The driver and a passenger were stuck inside the vehicle. The doors could not be easily opened (on the driver side) so I pulled out my keys and used this tool to pop out the window. It instantly caused the tempered glass to shatter and I knocked the excess away with my flashflight before using a knife to cut away at the airbags. The woman survived and it was incredibly comforting for her to see me face to face and know that she had a way out and that she wasn't stuck. We waited for a little and paramedics arrived and were able to give everyone the care they needed. This was a real-life scenario and this product worked. Would absolutely recommend.Photo from after the fire department transported everyone.

I got mine today, and I am pleased with the ruggedness of the design and plastic of it. After reading some reviews about it not working initially, I decided to try it on the Amazon box it came in. One worked immediately and smoothly on the first try. The second one did not, and it took about 60 seconds of repeated use to break in the internal catch that releases the window popping thing. This isn't a huge deal, but if my vehicle was sinking in a lake and it didn't work absolutely immediately, I would be worrying.I prefer the compact size of this over the Life Hammer. Clips inside my glovebox and brightly colored so I can easily grab it.

I bought 4 of these. Myself, my wife, my father and mother. I love to be prepared and think this is a potential life saver. When received, I test fired each one into a stack of newspaper to ensure the pin fired. Each one left the pin indentation in the paper. I will not "dry fire' them again as to not wear out the spring mechanism. The belt cutter is well protected from accidental injury and the safety clip covering it is firmy seated. My placement of them in the cars is my preference and you may find other places better suited. I figured that if I even needed it due to a vehicle accident in my car, the airbags will be deployed and I may be disoriented. So attached to the keychain wasn't a good option in my eyes as the airbag will obscure it from view and if I'm inverted, it may be difficult to locate. Therefore, I 'zip-tied' it to the celing handle of my truck over the driver's window. This puts it inches from my head and in plain view. I also ordered the bright yellow for visability at night as I figured the black may be harder to see if in the dark or under water.I also have easy access to this if I come accross an accident scene and I need to get people out of a car(s). By 'zip-tying' it using the blade cover to the Oh S#!t handle, a quick yank will release it from the handle leaving the blade cover in my car. After I use it, I can just snap the tool back onto the blade cover which is still fastened to the Oh s#!t handle.
