ROBERTS Universal Seam Cutter is designed for top and bottom cutting of loop pile carpet for proper seaming. Easy to use, it offers the advantage of an extra-long nose for better row separation, a blade angle that delivers clean, precise cuts and the flexibility to accommodate both carpet and trimmer blades. When top cutting, point the cutter downward, pressing the tip down to pierce the carpet's backing, using it along rows making sure that the carpet seams are at the right angles to the padding seams. When bottom cutting, use the blade's angle to cut from the carpet’s backing to prevent shearing and wadding up of yarns. The 1-piece durable nylon construction offers long-lasting performance and reliability.

I was unable to cut this thick carpet with this tool. I should just send back for refund. My Stanley box cutter did a better job cutting this carpet even my wife did better with box cutter.

This did not seem to work very well. I tried to use this with what I would consider average thickness carpet. I was not able to get it going more than a couple inches. I kept reverting to a knife. I suspect the metal versions do a better job.

It kinda works. I will admit that my carpet skills are weak. Maybe someone who knows what they are doing can actually cut straight lines with this. It worked ok. I was using it on a crappy berber. Maybe a shag would be easier? It was sharp but the fibers would get stuck in the notch and it would not glide more than a foot or so at a time. So it did not make cutting go much faster for me, but again I am not a skilled carpet installer.

This is a handy tool but a utility knife works just about as well if you are careful using it.

Works well .Easy to use it does very clean cuts.Blades change out quickly.Pick up a box of blade , they wear out quickly

Worked just as described, I did not find it cheap looking as I have seen other reviewers describe it. It worked out great for me affer laying several yards of carpet I am happy with this tool.
