This shelf completes the cart and sits on mine all the time. It's very sturdy and often holds a flash case, my grip case, and my camera case... lots of trust there!

Round peg in a square hole? The build and materials pass inspection but the design is uninspired. A set of 4 round tubes attach to the cart and the shelf bracket mounting points are square. The thing rattles around like crazy. It's only held in place by gravity. They include 4 flat stamped steel plates, 4 screws and 4 split washers to help keep it from toppling over. I hate it. Will use for now until I build something better. The textured finish is durable but full of raised sharp edges that will scratch the heck out of your equipment.

It's hard to gush over Rock N Roller products. While I've owned two of their carts, and admit they have worked as expected, the build quality is spotty. THat hasn't been detrimental to their durability, but if they skimp any further these products just wouldn't cut it.The Quick Set Shelf is (mostly) an improvement over their previous shelf design in that (once assembled) it is faster to deploy. The assembly isn't difficult, but due to the "generous" margin of error in the manufacturing, you will likely need to tweak everything to get the best fit. My experience was to build the two shelf components, put them on the cart, tweak to get the best fit and only then should you tighten all the nuts and bolts. There are some "safety" retainer tabs that mount underneath the rails, but the instructions make no mention of this. After you finish building the shelves....yeah, those leftover parts are the retainer tabs hardware. There are two spring loaded push pins that snap into place when you put the two shelves together. They are not really needed as the locking bolts secure things as the two hand bolts tighten everything in place. In fact, those push pins are quite difficult to deal with when disassembling the two shelves. Have fun with them...One big disappointment is the revised shelves have a slick, textured surface. This is guaranteed to allow items to slip off the shelves, so I will cover this ASAP with a utility matt from the hardware store. Why they cut this corner is strange, and puts your gear at risk. The good news is that adding a shelf to your cart can expand it's usability, depending on your work flow. You can carry a bit more stuff, and you have a make shift (albeit somewhat unstable) table to work from. Even with my grumbling about the materials and manufacture quality, I DO recommend this for owners of Rock N Roller carts. However, it does bolster my lust for a REAL production cart (Inovativ, addicam, ProAim, etc).

I almost sent it back. It's a big, clunky thing just laying about. I screwed it togetherand went to lay on the pegs that screw into the insides of the upright handles. It don't fit. WTF?? Tried to make it ride on top. Nope. Tried wangdangling it in every conceivableangle and approach. I was getting it ready to return, flipped it over to start unscrewing the hardwarethat connects the panels to the frame. The lights from in high shone upon me and I realized there were "slots" in the metal tubes whence the screws came through!!! Pressing the rails "in" to the center made the width the perfect width to lay upon the pegs!! Even spread them out a bit to get a tighter fit. ta dah!! Instruction manuals used to be so cool!! This thing didn't come with one.

The best news I can give you is that this thing actually made a rock solid stand for my MOXF8 weighted keyboard. I just needed a add a block of wood under one side to make a perfect stand. My Nord Electro 73 fits on it even easier on my G11 RackNRoll. The bad news is that this thing seems like it was almost produced in somebody's garage...kind of surprised at the wood cuts..but on the other hand, I could never have made this thing myself. It's heavy and adds one more bulky thing to the pile of stuff you carry to a gig...I'm not sure that I will use it forever, but I am very satisfied, just don't expect a nice piece of furniture...

I like the ease of putting on the shelf as it's much faster than the original. My major dislike is with the wet-looking heavy-duty textured paint. I use the cart for sound gear and the surface is very slick and items slide off very easily. I've added some carpet squares on my own and it is now much more suited to my uses. I've added a picture that show's the difference between the carpeted version that I did vs standard textured paint.

We have a 4 piece Bluegrass Gospel Band that play to senior residences and nursing homes. We have to cart our sound systems, amps, guitar stand, microphone stand, and instruments. This cart has made life so much easier. I purchased two shelves also. The cart is well designed and very sturdy. The large wheels really make it easy to negotiate the elevators. Very happy so far.

the new mounting hdw. makes setup and teardown quick and painless, not the juggling act employed when using previous models...just a 10 min. adjustment for the 1st mount out of the box, and should be good after that...the mounting pegs can stay installed and the handles will fold down perfectly flat with them intact...you might want to keep the provided allen wrenches handy, because I suspect you'll need to do a bit of tightening once in a while...the addition of a few lock washers and replacing the nuts with lock nuts would be a worthwhile improvement and eliminate the need for this, but I suspect it will work fine with OEM parts and a periodic inspection/ tightening...The board itself is not carpeted, but painted with a sort of textured paint, it doesn't feel like things will slip easily...I plan to use only the shorter single version, but when hooked together into the long version (yes, it comes with BOTH pieces), feels sturdy enough to use as a working platform...I'm happy with it, and if I develop problems I'll amend this review.
