Product Description

Sapphire Blue Pond Dye

Sapphire Blue uses a proprietary formula to enhance your pond or lake with a beautiful, natural dark blue color. Pond dyes will improve your water quality and clarity, while maintaining its color. We have several different colors and options to choose from depending on your personal preference. Pond dyes are also the safest product to use in any preventive pond program.

We encourage pond owners trying a pond dye to take a picture before you apply the dye and then another picture the same time of the day 24-48 hours after applying the dye. It is amazing how subtly a dye can transform your body of water.

Important Tip: All ponds will take a dye differently and the same dye can appear slightly different in the same pond from one application to the next. Preexisting conditions in a pond can also alter the way a dye appears. If you apply a pond dye and the tint is drastically different than what is discussed above, there is a preexisting condition that is altering the color of the dye. For example, customers will add our pond dye to a rather green pond and the pond turns a vibrant green color. The preexisting condition in this pond is a planktonic algae growth. When the blue pond dye was added, it intensified the color of the green planktonic algae. Once the algae is controlled or dies off on its own the beautiful turquoise color will magically appear.

  • This product is safe for livestock, recreation, potable water and not harmful to fish when used according to label directions.

  • Pond dye is applied approximately every 30 days or when you notice color fading. Sometimes significant rainfall or extreme temperatures will require you to add more dye sooner than 30 days.

  • Simply pour the dye into pond along the shore or from slow moving a boat. Dye is concentrated and can stain rocks and dock, so be sure to apply away from these areas. Dye will mix throughout pond in 24 hours.

  • 1 gallon of pond dye will treat 1 acre with an average depth of 4-6 feet.

  • Do not ad water to the spill. Soak up product with oil absorbent. Place the soiled absorbent in trash bag to prevent spread. Use a 50/50 bleach/water mixture to clean up rest. To clean of hands use bleach water, but be sure to keep out of eyes.

We just built a new pond and there is not much shade around due to the digging process. The dye seems to really help keep the algae down to a minimum even though the pond is in full sun most of the day. It is supposed to help with keeping the water temperature down as well keeping the fish healthier. I have seen other ponds in the area covered in algae so this dye must be doing a decent job. The color is nice and gives it more of a brackish water look.

It made our pond a pretty blue, yet it still looked natural. It is the best of all the colors we have tried.

Probably for good reason. Nobody said you could use this in your pool. It was great for about 2 hours and then the chlorine took over, making it a gruesome brown. And then about a day later it was all back to normal.

Put a full gallon in a lake about one acre 6 ft deep turned the water blue where I emptied it in took a glass of water from the lake before I put it in then another glass eight days later no water running out of the lake both glasses the exact clear colour no evedince I had ever put blue dye in it, put another gallon in it today will update this review in one week.Review update put another 5L plus 5L of lake blackout so three 5L in total a few days later no runout from the lake but the water almost clear I am now adding a picture of water from my house tap and a glass from the lake. the glass on the right is from the 1 acre lake after two 5L of blue and also 5L of black out added one week later, the glass on the left is from the house tap the lake water would be naturally more tinted total waste of money. if I took a picture of the lake it would appear blue but a picture of another lake close by with no dye it looks blue, so the colour comes from the reflection of the sky and not the water from the lake.

Works well but dissipated fairly quickly, likely due to water Depth. Add more and it stayed colored longer

Look, I always avoid saying anything bad about a product because it's possible that someone else would have had a much better experience. But in this case I'm helping the Amazon community by writing a truthful review of my experience using this pond colorant. The home that I live in has a 1 acre lake, the deepest part is 16 ft and I've always purchased a commercial current which is very pricey but works. When I saw this for sale and had had lots of good reviews I thought what the heck I'll give it a try. I bought two gallons of this and when it was time to add the colorant I turned on the de-icer we used for the ducks which circulates water throughout the pond and within an hour or so the proper color was reached. It wasn't more than a few weeks that The color started fading. This is what happens with the garbage from tractor supply and that's what happened with this. Now I have that stupid blue looking color that is so unnatural in Northeast Ohio that I will eventually have to buy some black colorant to tone it down. This is one of those situations where you get what you pay for. If you buy the cheap stuff you will get cheap results. By the best colorant you can afford and you'll be much happier

I used this product to control floating algae in farm pond (1/2 acre). According to info I read online and on packaging I should have used colorant earlier than did. Feb or March is recommended. It was early April Some floating algae had already started to appear with rising water and air temps prior to treating and Algae was happening daily. Put in product as soon as it arrived (Which was much faster than expected). The color has only been in for two weeks but it seems to have halted any Alage growth. I was concerned about what color to get because I wanted it to look natural instead of some neon color. I had read that blues work better than black or silver for Aqutic plant control , that is why i chose sapphire blue. I am very happy with the color and how it looks. will let you know how it works and lasts with more time.
