Had three requirements for a guard. Fits a small/short arm, leather, and no glaring branding. The same things I looked for in my glove. Harder to find than I thought it would be. For reference I do recurve archery with a 1970s Ben Pearson. It's quality leather that will need worked in. I oiled it bent it back and forth and then wore around the house and stored it wrapped in the cord in a U shape. I'm 5’3“ have a petite build and it fits perfectly about an inch away from not elbow and then down comfortably towards my wrist. The cord is elastic and I did find that I needed something underneath or it would bruise my skin from the tension. I always carry a bandana and that's been the perfect solution. The cord itself I restrung so the knot towards the wrist comes up through the top and not bottom. Then when I got use to wearing it, I knotted the cord to make a few loops to match where it hit with the different brass hooks as I made my way around. The bottom ends in a loop that I pass the first knot I made at the top through.Make sure you get the side closer to your elbow snug enough that it doesn't catch your string. That's really been my only issue but once you get it right you don't even know you're wearing it.

For the most part I’m really happy with the arm guard. The leather is thick and tough, so I hardly even feel the string snap from my bow at all. The label is stamped into the outside, but it’s not especially visible, so it would still be ok for cosplay, I think. The things I don’t love are1) the lace-up closure is really finicky and hard to do up one handed. Much better if you have someone to help. I’ve been experimenting with different strings and toggle clasps to try to make it easier to do up myself. I prefer non-elastic, softer/thicker shoelaces best so far, as I found the elasticized string was really uncomfortable for me. (Pics show toggle clasp- which does not come with the guard- on the elastic that came with it and on the shoelace- that I had at home). I also think the hooks should have just been grommets or eyelets. It would make tightening and loosening the lacing much easier, as the string wouldn’t keep coming off the eyelets.2) The only other “complaint” is that I wish it was longer, with a thinner section at the elbow for bending the arm. I’m double jointed so my elbow sometimes really bends in as I hold the bow, and a guard that covered more of my arm would be really nice. I know there are guards out there like that, but not as nice looking as this one is, and I do want to be able to use it in cosplay sometimes. More of a wish than a complaint though, lol.If anyone is interested for size comparison in the pics, I have very small wrists and lower arms, and it still fit really well, no overlapping.

Product works to protect your arm. The reason for low stars is the lacing with a stretchy cord. No suggested instructions come with it so you just have to trial and error different ways to wrap the cord. You can wrap it around a few times to get it to stay on and you have to tie a loop in the end so it will catch on an eye to keep it from unraveling. The leather seems adequate to protect your arm, no issues with that. If I had it to do over again I would have tried a product with Velcro straps to keep it fitting the same each time I use it and it would be faster to put it on and remove it after use. Hope this helps everyone and I hope it helps SAS to make a better product.

Everything was great but took some time to break it in to adjust to the contour of my forearm. Works great now that it is broken in.

Looks used, scratches on the leather and for it being used it shouldn’t have marks
